My life is like a coin.
There are two sides.

On one side, I am Leela Walsh: daughter, sister, employee at three minimum-wage jobs.
I cook. Do laundry. Contribute to the debt my family is sinking in.

On the second side, I am Leela Walsh: Straight-A student, top graduate of my class, med student.
No one knows of my brother’s sordid past. My sister’s poor decisions. Or that I’m the first in my family to graduate high school.

The balance between these two sides is nearly impossible to maintain. And it only becomes more difficult when I meet Wes McCleary.

He’s never had a job. Never wanted for anything.
And now, he wants me.

There are a thousand reasons we shouldn’t be together, and just one that keeps bringing us together.

Will that one reason be enough?

Read the first THREE chapters of A Thousand Reasons:

A Thousand Reasons sucked me in from page one, not only with a need to know more about these characters, but with a curiosity to see how things would play out between Wes and Leela.

From the start - it was clear there's a lot to Leela but I wasn't sure exactly who she was at first. It was clear she's got some strength and that she's loyal to her family. Sshe's kind and caring, she's a bit reserved and quiet - mostly it seemed at first because she felt some shame for who she is and where she came from. Leela has never had anything given to her - she's a hard worker with plans to always be a hard worker and earn everything she can. Not just for herself - but so she can help her family. It was interesting to watch as new pieces of her came out as she got to know Wes and his group of friends - they are nothing like what she's used to.

Wes was also a little harder to peg down to his core. He's got a lot going for him, close friends, money, and not near as many family difficulties as Leela. But at his core, he's a good guy.

This story was sweet and light. Though there was touches of emotion, and a little bit of drama - it wasn't angsty. There's a lot of issues between Leela and her family - which sometimes annoyed me because it felt as if there was to much put off on her. The differences between Leela and Wes didn't really cause as many problems as I expected, beyond the initial period where Leela didn't really know about starting a relationship with him.

Irresistible attraction. Unimaginable danger.

I knew from the moment Noah Williamson walked into the diner that he was haunted—deeply haunted—but I couldn’t resist the lure of him. He was gorgeous and fascinating and mysterious, and like a delicate moth to a brilliant blue flame, I was drawn to him. Drawn to his fire.

But if I’d known about his job, about what happened to his wife, I’d have run the other way. Before I got caught up in the red-hot blaze of his life. Before everything in my world got burned to the ground.

It’s too late to run now. I hesitated and that was it. I fell. I fell for him before I knew there was danger in loving him.

Noah once told me that this is the way we burn—together or not at all. At the time, I didn’t know what that meant.

Now I do.

Release Blitz: Save the Date by Carrie Aarons

Title: Save the Date
Author: Carrie Aarons
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Release Date: June 24, 2018

You know that pact you make with your childhood best friend of the opposite sex? The one where, if you’re both still single, lonely and hopeless at thirty, you’ll marry each other?

This is the story about what happens when you hit the big three-oh and have to make good on that pinky promise.

Personally, I think love, romance and all of that nonsense is a crock of, well, you know. And Reese Collins, the boy who used to put worms in my hair at backyard barbecues, knows that better than anyone.

But when he moves to the same city I’ve happily, and singly, inhabited for years, memories of oaths past resurface. Reese is like a dog with a bone; a really hot dog and that bone just happens to be me.

He won’t stop hounding me, and the crazy thing is, my frigid, traitorous heart is starting to cave. For my best friend.

It seems so far off, when you’re a kid playing Monopoly in your treehouse. But when that clock strikes midnight on your thirtieth birthday, and you’re standing alone in front of a grocery store-bought cupcake, a childhood deal to walk down the aisle doesn’t seem so silly anymore.

Save the Date is a fun Friends to lovers romance with the fun twist of a marriage pact.  Carrie Aarons brings the laughs and her own unique twist on the topic with this story.  I loved the characters of Reese and Erin and was hooked on the story from the start - anxious to see where Aaron's would lead us and how things would end up for these two and their "pact".

I loved the differences in Reese and Erin - her fear of his remembering and wanting to follow through on their pact and his determination to do it.  Erin has her reasons for not trusting love and not believing in happy ever afters - and in that sense I felt like I knew her in this book and we'd be good friends - but I was also still rooting for her to figure out Reese might be different.

With humor, emotions, and one of my favorite tropes - I was pleased with this book and how it all came togehter.  Reese and Erin delivered a fun story that hooked me, kept me laughing and sucked me further in with each turn of the page.  Carrie Aarons has done it again.

Author of romance novels such as Red Card and Privileged, Carrie Aarons writes sexy, swoony and sarcastic characters who won't get out of her head until she puts them down on a page.

“Did I do something to anger you?” Jetta asked with a frown.
His eyebrows rose at the question. “Nay. What would make ye think that?”
“Because you have not kissed nor touched me again since then. I thought either you thought I did not want you to, or that I had somehow angered you, or that you simply tired of me and did not want me anymore because of my shorn head and my being too thin.”
“Oh, lass,” Aulay said softly, cupping her cheek with his hand. “Ye’ve no’ angered me, and I am definitely no’ tired o’ ye. In fact, nothing could be further from the truth. Every minute I am with ye I have to fight no’ to kiss and touch ye,” he admitted, his eyes dropping to her mouth and his face moving closer.

“Truly?” Jetta whispered uncertainly. “Aye, truly.”

Blog Tour: Acquainted by London Miller

by London Miller Publication Date: June 18, 2018 Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Mafia, Organized Crime, Romance

Amazon / Kindle Unlimited:
Amazon Paperback:

They met under summer showers …
Vera Markovic only wanted a vacation away from New York where everyone knows her as a Russian Mafiya printsessa of the Markovic Bratva. She didn’t expect to find something worth remembering. And definitely not a man like Alfie Shelby.
They fell in love when the leaves changed colors …
As New York City’s notorious fixer, Alfie Shelby always gets what he wants—and when he sets his eyes on Vera, he’ll do anything to keep her … even if she’s not sure she wants to be kept.
And they nearly lost it all when the snow started to fall …
She wants nothing to do with a gangster. A life of crime is all he knows. But neither can deny what they have, even when forces beyond their control try to keep them apart.

Ah what can I say about this book that won't give anything important away. Like usual London Miller sucked me in from page one, penning an elaborate web of secrets, danger, romance, chemistry, the forbidden, drama and angst.  Everything I could want and ask for in a mafia romance and then some - Miller has given it all in this story - which I think is my favorite book of hers yet.

Alfie is an amazing character, I was curious about it from page one, I could picture him and hear his accent as I read his parts and it all made me dig in deeper.  He was a mafia man, hard when he needed to be but also completely taken by Vera.

Vera - first can I say how much I loved seeing her again and finally getting to see her get her own story. She's strong and determined, feisty and smart - but also loyal and giving.  She's been hurt in the past, she wants nothing to do with the unsavory parts of her father's world and yet knows she can't fully be out of it.

From the start, I was taken by just how perfectly these two seemed to fit together and yet neither of them knew each other fully at the time.  As the story unfolds and we delve deeper into their connection from that first meeting to more, I was excited to see what was coming next, what tailspin I would find myself wrapped in and just what was lurking.  I was not disappointed with Alfie and Vera's journey - in fact as the book ended, all I could think was I wanted more.

With a degree in Creative Writing, London Miller has turned pen to paper, creating riveting fictional worlds where the bad guys are sometimes the good guys. Her debut novel, In the Beginning, is the first in the Volkov Bratva Series.
She currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia with her husband and two puppies, where she drinks far too much Sprite, and spends her nights writing.

He stared at me for a long moment. “You’re sure she’s mine?” “She’s yours.” “Then that’s good enough.” “I—really?” I blinked. He didn’t want to verify paternity? He just . . . trusted me? He nodded. “Really.” “I swear, I tried to find you, Logan. On my life, I swear it. But the hotel wouldn’t give me your name no matter how much I begged. And you paid cash for your drinks and never mentioned your last name. I tried, but I just . . . didn’t know where to start.” “It’s not your fault. I believe you.” The sincerity in his voice made my throat burn. Goddamn it. I was going to cry. I’d worked so hard not to cry today. I’d fought to keep my emotions in check and my head from spinning out of control. But this was going to make me break. I wanted so badly for Logan to believe that I hadn’t kept Charlie from him intentionally. The fact that a man like him would trust someone like me without proof meant more than he’d ever know. “Thank you,” I choked out past the lump in my throat. “So, um, is Charlie inside with your husband? Or boyfriend?” The urge to cry disappeared and I barked out a laugh. “Smooth.” He chuckled. “It’s been a long day for me. Give me a break, will you? This morning I was in New York, then I came to Montana for a business meeting and discovered a daughter. I’m off my game.”

Tattered takes us on quite the journey - it's a secret baby story of sorts - but man does it deliver something uniquely satisfying.

Thea's never had an easy life, an orphan no one wanted, a girl who lived day to day never knowing for sure what would come her way next and then the unexpected - she found herself pregnant with no way to contact the father.  So Thea found her way back to the makeshift family she'd made and started anew.  She and her daughter were quite happy there and then as if fate had intervened - Logan came back into her life - shocked and amazed to discover he had a child.

Logan wanted to get things done and settled with his latest acquisition and get back home to New York, until that is he's blindsided by the past and a future he didn't know he had.  Now Logan wants nothing more than to get to know and claim his family, but Logan's stuck because while he wants his newfound family - his work is also important to him and it's miles away.  Logan knows he'll have to prove himself to both Thea and his daughter Charlie, but he's almost positive they can make things work - at least until they can find a way to be together.

Tattered is a story of second chances, it's also a story of discovering the important things in life and about finding family - not with who you are born unto but who remains there for you.  Thea has a lot to work through from her past, trust doesn't come easily to her - but she's also determined that her daughter have everything she needs and things Thea herself never had.  Logan wants nothing more than to have Thea and Charlie with him, he wants everything with them - but he hasn't thought it all through which in turn causes a touch of drama between them.  I loved the little bits of drama throughout the story that added just the right touch to make it more. Thea and Logan were fun characters to watch grow and change as they worked through things together and Charlie was just the right amount of comedic relief when needed.
