But she can’t turn down the generous salary or Bella, the toddler with troubled eyes. Youngest in the Kirkpatrick clan, Harper’s not an expert on kids. Neither is the young widower. Her head-strong personality soon puts her at odds with Cameron and his TV personality girlfriend, Kimmy Carrington. When she stands in for Kimmy at a Savannah gala, Harper and Cameron spark a fire that nearly burns down the dance floor. Never has the wrong man felt so right. Never has a boy from the south worked so hard to rev up the charm. Will the Windy City girl be able to put the heart back in his home? Can he convince her that his southern comfort has staying power?
About Barbara LohrBarbara Lohr writes contemporary romance, adult as well as New Adult, often with a humorous twist. Her early career included teaching writing and lit, while writing theater and book reviews for the local newspaper. When her career broadened to advertising and marketing, her love of literature and writing remained. Eventually, national magazines published more than two hundred of her short stories. Today she concentrates on novels and novellas with feisty women who take on hunky heroes and life’s issues. Barbara lives in the Midwest with her husband and their cat, who insists he was Heathcliff in another life. In addition to travel, her interests include outwitting the deer that insist on sharing her beloved garden. Her Windy City Romances series present Vanessa, Amy and McKenna and the men who are a match for these three high school friends.
Cameron is a single, hardworking dad looking for a nanny to help with his daughter. Though he needs someone to handle the day to day childcare, he also needs help with his daughters special circumstances.
Harper has a lot going on, but most importantly she needs a job, and to decide where her life is going. In desperate need, she goes on an interview at Cameron's house after an embarassing first meeting, and she's just about ready to leave without taking the job, when she meets his daughter, Bella.
Something about Bella and her situation calls to Harper and she cannot walk away, even when she thinks she should.
Finding Southern Comfort is a sweet romance between two people that is formed mostly because of a little girl. Harper walks into Cameron's life and takes over and changes it. Neither really realize what is happening until it comes to a turning point. The way Barbara Lohr works the changes Harper makes in Bella's life into this story add a depth of emotions that wouldn't otherwise be there.
