UnaTo many, I am little more than a myth. The Kiss of Death, a hired killer, revered by some of the greatest criminal organisations in the world. Trained by the bratva themselves, without conscience, without mercy, the perfect soldier. I’ll kill anyone… for a price. Death doesn’t discriminate, she sells to the highest bidder, but even I have a weakness. Nero I want one thing—power. But power is merely a game of strategy. The pieces are on the chess board. Death is my queen, and also my pawn. She’ll paint this city red in exchange for the one thing she wants. Now all I have to do is watch it all play out. She’s nothing more than a weapon, and yet, I find myself wanting to dance with death, to possess her. And I always get what I want. A game of power. A risk that could cost her everything. An obsession that would see the world burn at their feet. A bloodied king. A broken queen. Kill me or kiss me?
You know how you read a synopsis and dive into a book and think you know what you are getting, well with Kill Me, that isn't the case. LP Lovell blew me out of the water with this story, so much more than I imagined.
Una is one scary woman, but she's had to be. She's been through so much and made into what she is as a direct consequence of her past. I love how she's feisty, strong, and knows how to get the job done. She compartmentalizes what she does, as she has to, and doesn't let any of it get to her. But Una meets her match in mafia Capo, Nero.
Nero craves power, and to get it he needs assistance from the best, and he knows the best is Una, but he doesn't expect the fiery woman he discovers when he meets her. Nero likes an appreciates who and what Una is, but don't mistake him for soft, he's hardcore and has no qualms with doing the dirty work himself if the need arrises.
The interactions between Nero and Una range from laugh out loud funny, to OMG they did/said that?! Kill Me sucks you into the dark, seedy world that comprises the lifestyle these two have grown up in, mafia, hit men, the sex trade, there's a little bit of everything going on in this book, but each plays an important role in the story.
This was my first book by LP Lovell and I was sucked in immediately, held captive by the story, by the very words written on each page. This book is not your usual mafia story, and I loved that Una was such a strong heroine, she stole the show for me because she was cunning, she had strength, she survived so much and yet she wasn't broken, not really. Nero was also a compelling character who made me question him, was his motive as crystal clear as he wanted it to be, was he hiding anything? What drew him to Una, because clearly there was something between them from the very start.
Kill Me is full of action, violence, and an overwhelming chemistry between two people who you'd least expect it from. There is suspense, and drama, and a little bit of painful history, but it all adds up into steady storyline that you wouldn't expect. I fell in love with the authors writing and the world she built up for Una and Nero and now, I'd follow her down a rabbit hole to get the next book.

0.5 in The Kiss of Death Series. Prequel novella to Kill Me.At thirteen years old I was sold, doomed to become a sex slave. Nicholai Ivanov, boss of the Russian Bratva, gave me the ultimate gift. He saved me from a fate worse than death. He promised to make me strong, because only the strong survive, and the weak die, forgotten and inconsequential. I now live in a world of blood and violence, where humanity itself is a weakness. My life is not a battle of bad and good, but bad and worse. This is kill or be killed, survival of the fittest. Make me or break me?
