Cover Reveal: Reaching Rose by J.P. Grider

Reaching Rose by J.P. Grider
(Hunter Hill University, #3)
Publication date: May 2015
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult, Romance

Synopsis:

Rose Duncan is dancing on Broadway. She’s spent hours a day for the last two decades to get there, and now she’s living the dream. She’s happy, she’s driven, and life couldn’t get any better.
Ben Falco is a pitcher whose only goal is to make it to the Major Leagues. He keeps his grades up, he doesn’t party, and he stays away from committed relationships – they’ll only distract him.
But when Ben meets Rose, she’s no dancer, and she’s certainly not happy. In fact, she doesn’t seem to be living at all. Yet something about her makes him want to know what’s turned her into this shell of a person, and if he can be the one to reach inside her mind and pull her out.
Ben doesn’t want a relationship. Rose doesn’t want to get better. But once their hearts collide, it’s a whole new ballgame.
Reaching Rose is a story about Rose and Ben, and a little about their friend Johnny Gleason – a genius who has plans of his own until they too slip from his grasp. This is a tale about love, loss, and guts, and the ability to play hardball when life throws you a curve.

Blog Tour & Review: Impossible Promise by Sybil Bartel

Impossible Promise by Sybil Bartel
(Impossible Promise #1)
Published by: Carina Press (HQN)
Publication date: March 23rd 2015
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult, Romance

Synopsis:

Three years ago, Layna Blair listened in horror over a telephone line as her parents were murdered. When the killer said she was next, Layna panicked and made a deadly deal—his secret in exchange for her life. She’s paid the price every day since, becoming a prisoner in plain sight.

Marine Sergeant Blaze Johnson offers Layna a way out—her freedom, his rules, no questions asked—and she takes it, despite knowing what her keepers do to people who get too close. She doesn’t know Blaze is fighting his own demons or that beneath his warrior façade is a man on the verge of breaking.

Embarking on a wild revenge mission with Blaze and his smooth-talking best friend, Talon, is not what Layna signed on for. But attempting to run when Blaze has made no secret he intends to make her his is a reckless mistake. With the killer closing in, it’s up to Blaze to save them all—and to Layna to realize that she’s risked the one thing she can’t afford to lose.

Book one of two / 93,000 words

Review:

Impossible Promise is basically a thrill a minute.  From the start of the book, you know that you are about to embark on a wild adventure that will hopefully A) Give you some answers  and B) push the main characters together because their initial attraction and chemistry is palpable.

Layna has lived her life everyday for the past 3 years essentially trapped.  Having overheard something she should not have, she's been following another person's rules just to stay alive.  Every day the weight of this drags her down and she's just about close to not even caring about living anymore.

Then she meets Marine home on leave, Blaze Johnson, in church of all places.  Upon their initial meeting Blaze figures out quickly that something isn't right about Layna and her current situation and he's bound and determined to help her.

I don't think either Blaze or Layna really knew what they were getting into by embarking on this journey together, but it made for quite an amazing tale and I absolutely cannot wait to finish this ride with book two.

Sybil Bartel has woven a heart breaking and emotional story with such strong characters that sucks you in and has you rooting for all the good things.  Rooting for good to conquer evil. Rooting for LOVE to win over all. And just rooting in general for Layna to finally have a GOOD life where she can behave in any way she wants to without fear of repurcusions.

AUTHOR BIO:

I grew up in Northern California with my head in a book and my feet in the sand. I dreamt of becoming a painter but the heady scent of libraries with their shelves full of books drew me into the world of storytelling. I love the New Adult genre, but any story about a love so desperately wrong and impossibly beautiful makes me swoon.

I now live in Southern Florida and while I don’t get to read as much as I like, I still bury my toes in the sand. If I’m not writing or fighting to contain the banana plantation in my backyard, you can find me spending time with my handsomely tattooed husband, my brilliantly practical son and a mischievous miniature boxer…
But Seriously?
Here are ten things you probably really want to know about me.
I grew up a faculty brat. I can swear like a sailor. I love men in uniform. I hate being told what to do. I can do your taxes (but don’t ask). The Bird Market in Hong Kong freaks me out. My favorite word is desperate…or dirty, or both—I can’t decide. I have a thing for muscle cars. But never reply on me for driving directions, ever. And I have a new book boyfriend every week—don’t tell my husband.

Cover Reveal: The Shameless Hour by Sarina Bowen

Announcing: Ivy Years #4

The Shameless Hour

by Sarina Bowen

Coming on or before May 1st

The girl who’s had everyone meets the boy who has no one.

For Bella, the sweet-talking, free-loving, hip-checking student manager of the Harkness

men’s hockey team, sex is a second language. She’s used to being fluent where others

stutter, and the things people say behind her back don’t (often) bother her. So she can’t

understand why her smoking hot downstairs neighbor has so much trouble staying

friends after their spontaneous night together. She knows better than to worry about it,

but there’s something in those espresso eyes that makes her second-guess herself.

Rafe is appalled with himself for losing his virginity in a drunken hookup. His strict

Catholic upbringing always emphasized loving thy neighbor—but not with a bottle of

wine and a box of condoms. The result is an Ivy League bout of awkwardness. But

when Bella is leveled by a little bad luck and a downright nasty fraternity stunt, it’s Rafe

who is there to pick up the pieces.

Bella doesn’t want Rafe's help, and she’s through with men. Too bad the undeniable

spark that crackles between the two of them just can’t be extinguished.

Excerpt: The Shameless Hour by Sarina Bowen

I heard the band start to play the classic one-two Merengue rhythm that I’d heard my whole
life. On the dance floor, the energy picked up as the geezers began to move to the faster beat.
“Let’s go,” I said, standing up. I offered Bella my hand.
But Bella shook her head. Even worse, she scooted her chair toward the wall.
“Don’t leave me hanging,” I said, my hand still waiting in the air. “Come on now. Nobody puts
Bella in a corner.”
On the other side of the table, Bella’s sister snorted into her white wine.
Bella rolled her eyes. Hard. “You did not just quote Dirty Dancing.”
I leaned down near Bella’s ear. “I did. Now get your ass out of that chair, like the girl in the
movie, or I’ll have to put you in a fireman’s hold.”
Her mouth tight, Bella stood up. Not one to waste an opportunity, I clasped her hand, tugging
her onto the dance floor. When we were right in the center, I put one hand onto Bella’s waist
and took her opposite hand in mine. She was as stiff as a piece of wood. “Shake it off, chica.
This is supposed to be fun.”
“Your job tonight was to make my life less embarrassing. Not more.”
“I am doing that. We’re going to be the best looking dancers on this floor, and everyone in this
mausoleum is going to wonder how I got so lucky as to be here with you. Now listen to this
rhythm, okay? Just step to the beat. And let your hips absorb the motion.” I began to move to
the music. The merengue is a Dominican dance, and every kid in my neighborhood can
merengue before his fifth birthday. It’s just not that complicated.
With nervous eyes, Bella began to move.
“Use these hips,” I prompted, touching the silky fabric of her dress. As I watched, she loosened
up a tiny fraction. “Yes! But even more. You look great. I wouldn’t steer you wrong. And think of
pressing the balls of your feet into the floor.”
Biting her lip, Bella moved with me.
“That’s it! See? Nothing to it.” Just like that, we had a proper merengue going on.
“Can I sit down yet?” Bella asked.
“Not even close,” I laughed. “See, I knew you could move.”
Bella pouted. “We’ve seen each other’s moves, Rafe.”
She lifted her eyes, and the heat in them went straight to my dick.
Jesucristo. That was the trouble with getting so close to Bella. I was always going to be
susceptible to her. Anything she did to remind me of that night was always going to knock me
right over.
“Ha.” She said. “I finally found a way to shut you up.” Bella put a little more effort into her merengue then, looking smug.

Excerpt
The day my son was born, my heart became limitless. My heart was fuller than I could have ever imagined, and just when I thought I had run out of room, it exploded letting that love course through my entire being. It was unlike anything I had ever experienced, and something I would never get used to. The love, the complete and utter unconditional adoration I felt for him, was enough to flip my world upside down.
I looked at the tiny human I had helped create and everything I knew about life changed. Suddenly the grass was greener, food tasted better, the world was brighter, and everything was…happier. I was no longer focusing on the negatives in life; everything was positive and so full of promise, all because of my little boy. Any ill feelings I had been harboring simply dissipated making room for all that was Maddox.
I was walking on cloud nine convinced that from this point on everything was going to be great. My life was going to be perfect, and when it wasn’t, I was going to make the best out of it, not just for me, but also for him.
Maddox grabbed my finger with his small hands, something that made my chest clench with tenderness. And I did what I always do when something comes along that I want to remember forever; I burned it into my memory. Locking it away in that little box in my mind of all the happiest times in my life.
Caressing Maddox’s dark black hair I made him a promise; a promise I intended to keep for the rest of my life.
“I promise to always love you with all that I have to give. I promise to protect you from all of life’s monsters no matter how big or small. And I promise you, baby boy, that I will never stop fighting for you.” I whispered as I rocked my beautiful son to sleep for the last time.

About the Author

I'm a mama of an amazing set of twins, and a wife to a pretty cool dude. I live off of coffee, books, and sarcasm. I mean, there's no other way to live, is there? I'm not a romantic person, not really anyways. So I always find it humorous that I only read and write romance, as if it were engrained in me. My addiction to reading turned into a love for writing. And in all reality, writing is what keeps me sane. Any spare moment I have in my entirely too crazy life, I spend spilling the words from my head onto paper. I'm working on my debut novel called Limitless, which is my baby, you know besides the two not so tiny babies I actually have.

If only Liam would throw himself into therapy with the same vigor he used to throw her into bed, Ivy is sure he’d fully recover. But lately she’s felt adrift, while he’s stuck in self-pity and pre-occupation with a serious threat to his logging business.

When Ward Bose returns from the backwoods, Liam isn’t blind to the heated, guilty glances between his best friend and his wife. And he takes a step he never could have taken if his legs were working—ask Ward to service Ivy in bed.

The moment the three come together, Ward’s heartstrings are tied in knots, and Liam holds them in his fist. But secrets they’re each keeping could tear them all apart…unless they can find a way to share their burdens as easily as they share their love.

REVIEW:

Fevered Hearts is a combination of second chance love, romantic suspense, and menage and it all makes for a good story.  Liam was in an accident rendering him in a wheelchair and unable to be the husband in all the ways his wife, Ivy deserved. So when his old lover and best friend, Ward moves back to town, Liam finds a way to do just that.

But there is more going on than just a love match and temporary fix for all three of them, they all find themselves wanting a permanent situation and falling in love all over again.  To bad someone is not content to let either Ward or Liam find happiness and is causing problems with the family businesses.

Fevered Hearts has just enough suspense to get your heart going, but the main focus is the relationship blooming between Ward, Ivy, and Liam.  It is a sweet, but steamy story that goes to prove sometimes Love just makes everything work.
