I feel it imperitive to start this review with a warning - a Danger Danger Will Robinson warning - if you will. This book is not for the faint hearted, not for those with triggers and definitely not for anyone who wants light and fluffy. BUT if you are willing to take a chance on embracing the dark for just a bit, Tillie Cole will suck you in and leave you amazed at her story telling.
Raphael and Maria's story is dark, gritty, and raw but also sexy and enthralling - once you start you won't want to put it down. I don't want to go into to much of the story because I don't want to chance saying something I shouldn't so instead I'm going to be vagueish. You'll thank me for that when you read it yourself.
As one would expect this isn't your normal romance and yet - you will still find yourself believing in it falling in love with it. Raphael is quite the character and even when he did things that made me cringe, I couldn't find the will to turn away. Raphael knows evil, he's lived it, he's survived it, but it's formed it, it's stained him. Maria was an interesting character as well, one who herself has been through a lot. I really liked these two together and how Cole wove their story.
