Cinderella never had to deal with this crap.

Jane isn't entirely sure that Cinderella got such a raw deal. Sure, she had a rough start, but didn't she eventually land a prince and a happily-ever-after? Meanwhile, Jane is busy waiting on her demanding, entitled sisters, running her cleaning business, and . . . yep, not a prince in sight. Until a party and a broken shoe incident leave Jane wondering if princes---or at least, a certain deliciously hunky billionaire---maybe do exist.

Except Brock Wellington isn't anyone's dream guy. Hell, a prince would never agree to be auctioned off in marriage to the highest bidder. Or act like an arrogant jerk---even if it was just a façade. Now, as Brock is waiting for the auction chopping block, he figures it's karmic retribution that he's tempted by a sexy, sassy woman he can't have. But while they can't have a fairy-tale ending, maybe they can indulge in a little bit of fantasy . . .

Excerpt

“Jane.” It was a whisper, it was a question, and then his mouth was on hers—harsh, forceful, but so inviting she whimpered at the contact and leaned into him, begging him with her body to take what she couldn’t voice aloud.
It was a bad idea.
He was a bad idea.
Taken.
Ready to be married off.
But here, in this moment, he was hers.
So she kissed him back with as much passion as she possessed, her hands digging into the front of his shirt while his teeth nipped at her bottom lip.
His hands slid beneath her shirt, unhooking her bra with ease as he nudged her thighs apart.
“You feel so soft,” he murmured against her mouth. “Perfect.” Another plundering kiss, his tongue flicking hers before his lips slid down her neck. “So damn good.”
With a moan, she pressed as close as she could against him, nearly riding his leg in an effort to get more of him.
“That’s it,” he encouraged while she clawed at him.
“Brock!” Bentley’s voice pierced the air. “Did you need help?”
Brock froze above her, his face filled with irritation. “Open that door, Bentley, and I’m selling every car you own and replacing it with a Honda!”
Silence.
“You don’t mean it.” The knob turned.
Jane’s eyes widened in alarm as Brock quickly moved away from her and tossed the blanket…over her head. Right, like that was going to look normal. She pulled the blanket off her face and tried in vain to fix her bra while frantically pulling her hair back into a ponytail.
Bentley entered, took one look at both of them and smiled. “Clearly this room was dirtier than we thought?” He tilted his head at Jane. “Or maybe not dirty enough?”
“Out!” Brock barked.
“But—”
“Go!”
“Fine,” Bentley grumbled. “I’m leaving. I just thought you should know that Grandfather called and wanted to know how the maid was working out. I told him that you’ve been helping her since she sprained her ankle. He was concerned about her finishing the job.”
“What did you say?” Brock grabbed Bentley by the shirt and gave a little shake.
Bentley held up his hands. “Chill. I told him that she would make a full recovery, that she refused to sue, and that you were taking care of the situation. Because that’s all you’re doing, right Brock? Taking care of the situation…” He peered around Brock at Jane.
Feeling suddenly more naked than she actually was, she covered herself up with the blanket.
What had she been thinking?
It was beyond unprofessional.
Tears burned the backs of her eyes.
“Thanks, Bent.” Brock sighed, running his hands through his already mussed hair.
Bentley saluted him then added quietly. “For the record, any girl that can get Boring Brock to bend the rules is a keeper.”
Brock bit back a curse as Bentley shut the door.
“Boring Brock?” Jane asked.
“It’s about as bad as it sounds.”
“Well, I’m Plain Jane, so…I understand.”
He turned. “You’ve never been plain a day in your life.”
“I think you’ve already learned that you don’t need to give me pretty compliments to get me to kiss you.”
“You have seven freckles. You press your lips together to keep yourself from saying things you shouldn’t. You hum when you clean, and though I’m not sure what the tune is, it’s familiar. When you eat, you watch people rather than your own food, and I’m just going to come out and say it: you eat like an animal, the most erotic thing I’ve ever seen.”
Jane covered her face with her hands. “It was flattering until you said that last part.”
Brock laughed. “Seeing a woman dig into her food like she hasn’t eaten in weeks? It’s one of the most erotic visions I’ve ever had.”
Emotion flashed across his face as he made his way over to her and kissed her again, pulling away with her name on his lips. “Jane, I want you.”
“Thought I was just the help.” The walls around her heart started to slip; she felt it in the way her body rose against him. He’d noticed things about her nobody ever had, he was helping her, and he was beautiful. Was it so wrong to want this? For herself? Once in her life?
“You’re more than that, and you know it.” His eyes locked on to hers as his deep voice washed over her.
“You’re getting auctioned off in two weeks and you know it.”
He paused, his expression going completely ice cold before he looked away and then back at her. “And if I wasn’t? What then?”
“Then…” She bit down on her bottom lip. “I’d ask you to kiss me again.”

REVIEW

I can't even begin to say how much I LOVED this book. It was everything, gave me all the feels.  The story is a sort of modern fairytale with a whole lot of laughs, some family drama, and two people discovering for themselves what is most important.

Brock changed after his parents died because of guilt that he felt, it drove him to do what others wanted, to be who others wanted him to be rather than argue for his own wants and needs.  So when his grandfather decides to auction him off to better the company, Brock can't find it in himself to say No, even though he doesn't want to do it.  But then Brock finds Jane and with her his own feelings change and suddenly Brock isn't finding it so easy to be the man he has been.

Jane's life is nothing grand or exciting. She's got her business, she's got her sisters to take care of who don't appreciate her and that's about it. When an unexpected job offer lands in her lap, Jane couldn't be happier to get away from her everyday life if only for a short time. She doesn't expect to find a gruff, jerk of a handsome man in residence, but oddly finds herself feeling pulled in his direction.

The Bachelor's Auction will suck you in to the story, the pull between the characters is immeidate, the chemistry sparkles. There is so much hurt between these two people, their own private pains, that they find somehow they can share bits of with each other.  But can their connection mean anything or is Brock bound to the terms his grandfather had set out for him?

I loved the journey this book took me on, not just the love story aspect, but the parts where both Jane and Brock looked to themselves and realized that they had spent a good portion of their lives trying to make everyone else happy, instead of just being themselves and doing their best.  I loved the quirks between Brock and his brothers, their interactions, their close bond.  I loved Brock's grandfather, because ultimately he was  good man, one who loved his family and wanted the best for them, even if he didn't always go about it best.  Jane's sisters made me crazy, but I still felt their addition to the story fit well and added an extra facet to Jane and her personality.

Overall this book left me feeling light and happy, swooning and ready to see what's coming for the rest of the boys.  I look forward to reading the next book in the series and connecting further with those characters.

Excerpt
It was no joke.
Liam had been waiting in the lobby for her at nine o'clock, sharp. Liam Edenhoff – “but everyone calls me Eden” – he'd introduced himself again to her before guiding her out to a taxi he'd had waiting.
She felt a little nauseous. She'd chugged down another half bottle of wine, and some crème de menthe, before heading downstairs to meet him. She'd almost talked herself out of going, but she'd made the mistake of telling her roommate Tori about the whole fiasco. Apparently, Katya owed it to women everywhere (and Tori in particular) to explore this opportunity to its fullest. She'd all but been shoved out the apartment, the door slammed and locked in her face.

“Nervous?” Liam Eden-whatever-his-name-was asked her as the cab slowed to a crawl.
“Nope,” Katya's voice sounded overly loud.
“Liar. Tonight is gonna be an interesting night, angel cake.”
“Stop calling me that.”
“What's your last name?”
“None of your business.”
“Okay then – when the gang bang starts, I'll tell them to call you Katya X.”
She couldn't stop the blush from happening that time. Liam burst out laughing, then soothed the sting by grabbing her hand.
Even when they got out of the cab, he didn't let go of her. Normally, she would've been uncomfortable with a stranger assuming such a familiarity with her, but this time, she was thankful for it. She held onto him tightly as they walked down a crowded street. Then they turned into an alley, and his gang bang joke didn't seem so funny. He led her to a plain door, above which a simple, small, neon sign spelled out “The Garden”. Outside were several small groups of people, chatting and smoking. Some of them called out greetings to him, all of them using his nickname, but a large and scary looking bouncer addressed him very properly.
“Hey, Mr. Edenhoff, wasn't expecting you in tonight. Any problems?”
“Nope, just bringing a friend to show her the place, let her see what I do for a living.”
All the blood was quickly rushing from Katya's limbs, pooling somewhere in her stomach. None of this was a joke. He really did own the place, that much was obvious.
As Liam led her through the door, though, Katya actually felt a surge of confidence. She was still nervous, still more than a little scared, but she was okay with it. Liam seemed like a nice guy, he wasn't going to take her into some dark room and insert foreign objects into her orifices. She could leave whenever she wanted to, whenever it got too uncomfortable. Everything was fine, and for once, she was doing something exciting. She'd even have something interesting to talk about at work the next day.
Finally.

Review

I can't tell you exactly what I expected from this book, but I can tell you it wasn't waht I got. I don't mean that in a bad way, just that I found myself constantly surprised at what came next.

From the beginning I was curious about Katya, seeing the heart of her, knowing what made her tick. I loved that she was content to fill her online dating profile with boring information and just let it sit, but of course that wouldn't have made for the story we were delivered.  Katya is smart, she's got a good job, a plan for the future, but she's alone, no dates in sight, but with the help of a friend and a little bit of update to her dating profile, she finds herself  in a new position with men.

The story takes off from the start, leading us down a path that turns Katya's life round and round; she's doing things she thought she wouldn't, proving to herself and those around her that maybe she does possess a wild side.  But soon she has not just one but two men vying for her attention in different ways and Katya finds hersef in a whole new world.

Neighbors is HOT one for sure, but there's a few funny moments, there were also scenes that annoyed me for one reason or another or left me feeling unsure about them, but ultimately the story grabbed me and I couldn't help but follow it through to the end and then I might have wished I hadn't reached that point because I wanted more.  This story has twists and so even when you think you know, you don't have it all figured out, no way.

This is the first book by Stylo I've read and I enjoyed the writing style and the characters very much. I like that the book wasn't your typical "in the box" story, but rather something that made you think outside of the box, that held your attention but also made you wonder. I look forawrd to the next book in the series.

About the Author:

Crazy woman from a remote location in Alaska (where the need for a creative mind is a necessity!), I have been writing since ... forever? Yeah, that sounds about right. I have been told that I remind people of Lucille Ball - I also see shades of Jennifer Saunders, and Denis Leary. So basically, I laugh a lot, I'm clumsy a lot, and I say the F-word A LOT.

I like dogs more than I like most people, and I don't trust anyone who doesn't drink. No, I do not live in an igloo, and no, the sun does not set for six months out of the year, there's your Alaska lesson for the day. I have mermaid hair - both a curse and a blessing - and most of the time I talk so fast, even I can't understand me.

Yeah. I think that about sums me up.

Jethro’s lips kicked up in a sly half-smile at her sudden movement. It was like he knew he was getting to her and he enjoyed that knowledge immensely. “There’s no way you’re not from the city. Nashville or Knoxville, maybe,” he murmured, before shaking his head.   “Nah, I’m bettin’ you came in from Atlanta.”

“How…how did you know that?” Orla stuttered, her eyebrows furrowing with consternation.   Just what she needed in her life - an intelligent jackass.

“That fancy hair.   Your pretty dress. Those shiny shoes that, if you look, you can see your reflection lookin’ back. And those heels of yours aren’t scuffed, so you’ve been riding, not walking. Your clothes are too wrinkled to be from Nashville or Knoxville, so you’re just rumpled enough to have gotten off the bus from Atlanta,” he surmised, with a know-it-all grin as her cheeks reddened with embarrassment. “Oh, yeah!   You’re city bred from the top of your head to the tip of your toes. And a fussy little lady like you ain’t gonna find what she’s lookin’ for in Paradise.”

“Actually, son…” Jethro’s mother began to hedge, biting her lip as she turned to look up into her son’s face. “She has found just what she’s been missing.”

Biting her lip, Orla winced as Jethro frowned at his step mother. The woman, however, didn’t look overly worried about her son’s imminent reaction and she wondered if things would work out alright after all.

Jethro frowned.   “Mother McKinnon, we don’t have time for…”

“Oh, just rip the bandage off, Lydia,” Nellie ordered, interrupting Jethro as she bustled over to where they all stood together. “Jethro, meet your future wife,” the waitress decreed, flapping a hand at where Orla stood, nose to chest with him. “Take a minute and let this settle in your bones, boy.   Your much beloved step-momma done went and ordered you up a bride for hire.”
