When Emery finds herself back home in Lubbock, the last thing she expects to happen is to fall in with another Wright brother, but that's just what happens. Only Jensen is different than the last Wright Brother she was involved with and things can only go wrong between them, right?
Emery's sort of in a touchy place, dropping out of school and returning home unsure of what her future holds. So when she goes against her own thoughts and goes on a date with Jensen, she's surprised by his response after a decent date. But Emery doesn't want everyone in town knowing about their date, most especially not Landon, the Wright brother she dated in high school.
Jensen isn't sure what's going on with him, something about Emery calls to him, even before he knows who she is and why she has hang ups about his family. Even more than that, Jensen isn't sure about the feelings she pulls out of him, it's unexpected and prompts him to behave like a jerk.
The Wright brother pulled me in from page one, grabbing my attention and leaving me rooting for Jensen and Emery to figure things out and find a way to make their relationship work. Their connection was strong, the chemistry sparked, and the tension built it all up. I enjoyed watching as they both tried to work out what was going on in their own heads, the push and the pull, the wanting more but also feeling like it was a mistake.
I loved the Wright family as a whole, their family interactions showed a lot about who they were and why they behaved that way. They also often added a little bit of humor to the mix. Emery's best friend Heidi also was a great character who made a fun addition to the story and added comedic relief. I really enjoyed how the story included these side characters to give us readers insight into Jensen and Emery and give us cause to root for them.
