My Review:

Pulse starts out a while after Beat ended.  We find that Ash never returned after disappearing and no one knows where he's gone or what happened.

Ren, brokenhearted, puts everything she's got into training. She doesn't know anything else for a long time, just fighting and training.  In doing so she builds a relationship with her father, one that stems from her fighting and placing. Then, out of nowhere, a piece of Ash's past walks through the door at Beat and Ren is forced to make a decision.

Ash never wanted Ren to know about his past. He never wanted her to know his current situation, but once she does, he knows he also doesn't want to let her go again.

Pulse follows Ren and Ash on their journey back to each other and their journey to the future. Making plans for what they are going to do and figuring out how to get there.  There are new people we meet that offer big insights into Ash's behavior, and there are big changes made in relationships with people we know from book one.

I think Pulse offered wonderful closure to the events from Beat and the series as a whole.  Not only did Ash and Ren finally shed secrets, but they also built up a relationship on trust and made plans for the future.  They worked towards moving on from the past and letting go.  It wasn't easy and it wasn't always fun, but each aspect worked into the story as they got to that point was very well written and sucked you in to the characters and their world.
