Review
We got to see the sparks between these two briefly in Joey and Zeus' book, so I was looking forward to watching it all play out in this one, and I wasn't disappointed. Their story is full of twists and turns, secrets, and a betrothal no one really wants and yet one they feel duty bound to bear.
Gracie tries so hard to do well - she's always felt different, knowing she's not smart enough or good enough - but she does what she does very well -- COOKIES! - and it's enough to make her happy - or so she thinks. But when she unexpectedly finds herself pregnant - suddenly knowing she can do it alone isn't what she really wants - she wants the full family package - there's just one small problem - The prince isn't really hers to have.
Manning doesn't want anything to do with being Royal, not this betrothment, not any part of being Prince, and certainly not anything that will take hockey away from him. He's found his place in the world - and it doesn't involve his home country at all - and yet he still feels the duty, the heavy weight on his shoulders of what not following through on this betrothal can mean to his family, and more his country. But Manning also can't deny his feelings for Gracie - especially once he learns she carries his child.
What proceeds is an often hilarious, crazy journey wherein both Gracie and Manning try to find ways to break the betrothal, reign in their feelings for each other, and not face any fall out when they are unable to curb those desires. The road may be bumpy - but these two just might find their way to the a royal happily ever after.
