REVIEW
I always know going into a K. Webster book, that its going to take a lot out of me; either its going to be deeply emotional, or its going to be dark and twisty and leave me in shock, but determined to read on. I read on because I know at the end of it all, there will be something that makes it all worth it. The journey through the disturbing, the pain of what's been endured, all of it will lead to something worth so much more.
Whispers and the Roars was no different. It did suck me in, it did leave me cringing, hurting for Yeo and Kady, but deep into the story, beyond the cruel things, lay something more. From the first paragraph this book grabbed me and held me captive, dying to know all the details of what happened and needing to see how things changed for Yeo and Kady.
Yeo let Kady push him away once, years ago, knowing she believed it was the best thing for him, but also knowing that she would always be the one and one day he'd be back and prove it to her. But Kady'd been through a lot, and she wasn't trusting of many people, especially men. I'm not going to tell you anything about that, because this book is best read going in completely blind, letting the story unfold as you read it and keeping you guessing until the end.
K. Webster has this amazing ability of surpising me by taking things in a completely different direction than I thought the book was headed and often leaving me dumbfounded. But oh the journey to get those answers, to meet those twists head on is always a compelling one. This story is a love story, its about an amazing enduring love, but more than that, this story is about acceptance. It's a story about seeing past what others see.
It's no surpise the Whispers and the Roars has stuck with me and is a book that I'll probably remember for a while to come. It is a dark story, it's very disturbing in parts, and it definitely had my emotions flaring, but there's also the good moments, tender and sweet, steamy too.
