One of my favorite parts of Vale's books are the inter-connectivity. Though we met Rafe in another series of books which brought about my desire and curiosity for his story - his book actually kicks off a new series. I've been looking forward to Rafe's story since met him, and let me tell you it was just as amazing as I guessed it would be.

Rafe's got secrets, he's got hurts and he's got a lot of guilt over his past which affects his present in many ways. He feels unworthy often, and that clouds his perspective of himself. So when he finds himself attracted to Janie, a much younger woman, a woman who's family wouldn't approve of him - he tries his hardest to stay away. He can't return the feelings he sees she has for him, or at least he doesn't think he can until he does. But then everything goes to hell and Rafe's left to piece it all together again.

Janie's crushed on Rafe for a long time, years, and everyone knows it - what they don't know is that her crush is a bit more than they think. She loves Rafe, she wants to make a life with him and figure out why he pushes people away, why he allows himself to be abused for things he has no control over. But soon after she thinks things are going their way and she's finally broken through to Rafe, the unexpected happens....and things don't look so great anymore.

With a bit of misunderstanding, a touch of memory loss, and secrets abounding, Rafe and Janie are on two separate paths for a while - paths that lead Janie away and Rafe wanting to understand their bond more. But once the truth is out - there's no denying the connection, the passion, the absolute love between these two and neither are willing to let anyone between them again.

Kinda Don't Care will take you on a whirlwind of emotions, a wild ride with twists and turns that will have you rooting for a HEA for Rafe and Janie, while also wanting to smack a person or two and give them both a hug for dealing with things. There's a whole lot of drama and angst, a touch of humor and two people who couldn't be more perfect for one another. But more than this tale of love, there's a bit more underneath, about forgiving yourself for things out of your control, about letting guilt go and not allowing the past to control your present and future.
