Misadventures with a Rookie is an all new hockey romance from Toni Aleo. Though it is part of the Misadventures series of stories, it can be read a total standalone.  

Gus was recently drafted to the NHL - but before he goes to the big leagues so to speak, he's playing for a farm team, the Suns.  It's during his time with the Suns that he meets Bo - the girl who grabs his attention without wanting or meaning to.  Gus knows she isn't a fan from the looks she sends his way but there's just something about her he can't stay away from - and he knows he can win her over - who doesn't love hockey stars. 

Bo has her own history and pain from it.  She's shaded from what she's been through and therefore has better things to do than dote all over a cocky, rich boy hockey star. And yet the chemistry between them sparks and as they grow closer that enemy label gets further away. 

As with most of Aleo's stories - the banter between these two is spot on - it definitely shows that love is not instant but rather builds between Gus and Bo. The characters sucked me in and had me right in the middle, laughing at them, wanting to yell at them a time or two but ultimately making me hope for an HEA.
