BLURB Death never simply settles for the life it claims. It’s greedy. It stole all of our lives that night and while it put my husband in the ground, it left my four children and me behind. After an ugly year of grief, something had to change.   My sister suggested open spaces, big skies and fresh air in the heart of Wyoming. We settled into our shared estate the best we could, until I met my new neighbor. Arrogant, bossy and rude; Reid was easily the worst person I’d ever met. I'd decided to write him off entirely until I realized he was the only local horse instructor.   I’d heard that if I could get my kids onto a horse, they’d start to heal. Desperation had me creating an alliance with him. Envy had me craving the connection he had with them.   Distracted by the newness of our situation, I missed how close his demons danced to my ghosts. While I was ignorantly letting him take my heart, it was too late to realize . . . He’d already stolen it once before.   Add The Rest of Me to your Goodreads TBR: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/46363554-the-rest-of-me

REVIEW

The Rest of Me was a quick but heartfelt emotional read with a few twists.  This story brings together two people who have been hurting and in it they discover a second chance with each other, but more than that - they find peace.

Reid moves home, still hurting from an incident in his past, he's trying to find his way again, and somehow finds so much more when he comes in contact with his new neighbors.  I really enjoyed getting to know Reid, and watching as he couldn't help but want to help his neighbors, he wanted to save them from future hurts and help them work through their pain.

Layla moved to help her kids with their grief, to start fresh where not everyone knew her past. The past where he husband was unexpectedly killed in a car accident.  A year after the loss, Layla decides it's time to move on, to start living again and get out of the fog of grief so she can help her children heal and move forward too.  When she signs up the kids for horse lessons, she never expects her neighbor to be their teacher OR that he'll help them in more ways but she finds herself growing closer to him.

I enjoyed watching these two battle their selves over the feelings that are igniting between them. I loved watching as Reid helped not just Layla, but each of her children work through their pain, and find hope in the future as he looks forward to his own. This book really works through the emotions of grief, the stages of anger, and so much more, but more than that it shows the heart and how it leads us to what we need even when we don't know it.

Of course, things are not simple or easy and this second chance at love comes with a touch of heartache which made the win even greater.
