Synopsis: Only something as important as her best friend’s wedding to mob boss Gabriel Moretti could allow Nika Paynne a reprieve from captivity. Her abusive husband has kept her under his thumb with footage of her beloved brother, Caleb, killing another man. But the respite from her violent life isn’t the only draw. Vincente Romani—Gabriel’s deadliest guardian—will be one of the best men at the wedding, and Nika has lingering thoughts about the fascinating mobster…covetous thoughts that may put her life in danger. With the heartbreak he’s suffered and the brutality he effortlessly delivers, Vincente knows he’s the last person who can offer Nika a happily-ever-after. But his vow remains. He will do everything in his power to free his redhead from her violent prison—even if that means losing her forever. In the second thrilling and passionate Wanted Men book, a dangerous line is drawn between loyalty to the mob and loyalty to one’s heart.
This book starts off kicking you in the gut. Nika is a woman determined and though you hurt for what she's going through you have to give her props for her reasons and her hidden strength. As I turned each page, I wondered what was coming next and how it would carry the story.
The main characters of this book are both flawed in some ways, not that there is anything wrong with them, but they are not happy go lucky average people. And I think that's what makes the story what it is. They both have suffered, they both have painful histories, and yet the pull to each other is SO strong.
The setting of the story, basically little bits of the mob world in various times just builds with the suspenseful nature of the start of the book. I love the relationships between the many characters how they know each other and how they really take to heart the feelings of others but also knowing that sometimes once you hurt someone with your words, it can't really be taken back.
I really found the story compelling and it kept me reading to see how Nika would manage working through her experiences and how they affected those around her.
Thanks so much for participating and reviewing, Kris :)
