Synopsis:
Since finding out his father had another family on the side, Ian Dare swore to be the upstanding, responsible man his cheating parent had never been. When it comes to his relatives, he gives his all but in relationships he offers the bare minimum. But one glimpse of sensual Riley Taylor arouses his dominant and protective instincts and Ian is entranced. He will do anything to possess her … and does. But any future with Riley must include him extending an olive branch to the half-brother who is a constant reminder of the pain he’d rather forget.
Independent and always in control, Riley Taylor makes no apologies for choosing men carefully. Relationships have never been a priority and she believes herself hardened to domineering men – until she meets charismatic Ian Dare. He manages to turn a simple kiss into an all out assault on her senses and when he takes control in the bedroom, she’s stunned to discover she likes it. As their affair heats up, they soon realize they complete each other in ways neither imagined. But Riley’s past is closer than she cares to remember, and her struggles with Ian’s dominance might just cost her everything
My Review:
Dare to Love introduces readers to the Dare Family, a group of 8 siblings, who are still trying to grasp at their relationships among each other after discovering about one another and their father's secrets. Because of these revelations, there is much tension between the siblings, but also a lot of other repercussions including trust issues.
Ian Dare has never been one for commitment or a steady relationship, that is until he sees Riley across the room at his fathers birthday party. The bad news, Riley arrived with his brother, Alex. Not letting that hold him back,Ian does everything possible to get in with Riley, including opening up to mending fences between himself and his half-siblings. But Ian has trust issues, and he needs his woman to be all in, Can Riley be the one to change his playboy ways.
Riley had a terrible upbringing, and its left her with her own set of trust issues, and other insecurities. She wants to be happy and move past what happened, but it's not always easy to forget and let go, especially not when there are lingering reminders.
Dare to Love takes two characters who have serious issues with relationships and trust in general, but who have found in one another something new and different. Scary, at times, because its hard to put your complete trust into someone when you've been let down so much in the past. Ian struggles with letting go of the past and separating his feelings about his father from that of his siblings, it's a hard thing for him to do, but he definitely works on it.
Riley not only has to work through her own trust issues, she's also multi-tasking trying to maintain her friendship/closeness with Alex who's not only her best friend, but also family while also keeping up with her burgeoning relationship with Ian. She tries to be a neutral party for both, but also pushes toward a truce.
I love the differences between each of the Dare siblings we are introduced to in this book, and look forward to getting to know them more and watching as they work through their own problems and find a way to be a family.
