“Rhys?” His name rushes from my mouth on a breath, and I’m off the bed, hurling myself at him top speed. Somehow my legs wrap around his waist and my arms tangle behind his neck. I couldn’t hold back and play this cool if I wanted to. Every part of me that’s been fighting to stay focused, to keep working, to be on, collapses against him. Surrenders to the feel of him in my arms and the smell of him. My fingers lace through his hair. I scatter kisses across his face, the sharp angles and taut skin warm beneath my lips. “So I take it you’re happy to see me?” He chuckles, pressing his forehead to mine, hands squeezing my thighs. “Happy?” I release something that’s half a sob, half a laugh, pulling back a few centimeters to let him breathe. “What gave you that idea?” We stop grinning at the same time, laughter dissolving, our bodies exchanging sensual information. My breasts flattened to his chest. His erection growing and hardening against my core. Our breaths mingling and hearts tattooing beats through our clothes and into the other’s skin. I move first, leaning in to capture his bottom lip between mine, sucking and pulling between my teeth. Licking into his mouth like there’s honey hidden inside. He groans into the kiss, walking backward until we reach the bed and dropping me so I bounce a little, his eyes roving over me head to toe. “Pep, what the hell are you wearing?” Humor and desire tussle in his eyes. I look down, laughing when I see the young Jackson brothers emblazoned across my chest, my legs ending in the footed bottoms. “If I’d known you were coming, I could have made sexier arrangements.” “Arrangements?” He quirks a dark brow, placing a knee on either side of my legs, hovering over me like a promise. “Lingerie would have been nice. Other rock stars have girlfriends who wear lingerie.” “Oh, are you referring to yourself as a rock star now?” I grin up at him, feeling whole for the first time since he kissed me goodbye a week ago. “That’s not egomaniacal at all. Is there a club? You guys have rock star meetings? Does one of you take rock star minutes?” “You are sitting in here listening to my music in the dark.” He leans forward to tug at the zipper beneath my chin. “Maybe you’re actually one of my crazed fans. Or a groupie. I might even find a Mrs. Rhyson Gray t-shirt around here somewhere. My girlfriend doesn’t like those.” “No, she doesn’t.” I shake my head, eyes never straying from his. A small frown jerks his brows together. He tugs again at the zipper, but it doesn’t budge. “Pep, it’s stuck,” he says. “Sometimes it does that,” I answer easily, enjoying the frustration spreading over his expression as he keeps pulling and it keeps staying. He places my hand over his cock, hard and poking through his jeans. “Well, it’s not exactly a good time for it to do that.” I laugh, grasping my zipper and tugging. Wow, it really is stuck. These are vintage PJs, older than I am and threadbare in places. I’m surprised the zipper hasn’t rusted before now. I sit up, bringing our bodies closer as I jiggle the little hook a few times. Nothing. “Just how attached are you to this Jackson Five onesie?” His glance burns hot across my subtle curves visible through the thin flannel, telegraphing his intentions. “Well this is Michael’s original nose.” I release a fake exasperated sigh. “But I do have my sewing kit.” “All I needed to hear.” Sorry, boys. He grabs the two ends of the collar separated by the zip line and pulls until there’s a ripping sound, the panels falling back to reveal my naked breasts and my panties. A wicked grin spreads across lips. “You naughty girl.” He runs a finger over the writing on the front of my calendar panties, carrying a current that simultaneously hitches my breath and gets me wet. “Wearing Monday panties on a Thursday. My little rebel.”

Review: Cuff Me by Lauren Layne

About CUFF ME
Vincent Moretti is one of the NYPD's top homicide detectives-and one of the most eligible bachelors in town. His family, however, thinks he should date his longtime partner, Jill-a sassy, sexy, smart-mouthed blonde who drives him absolutely crazy.

Behind the quiet authority, tough-guy demeanor, and dark aviator glasses lies a man with a big soul-and a hard body that can soften any girl's heart. After years as his coworker, Jill Henley has given up hope that anything could happen between her and Vin. Besides, loving him would break all the rules. But seeing Jill with someone else triggers feelings in Vincent he never knew he had. Now he'll have to stop playing good cop/bad cop-and find a way to convince her to be his partner for life. . .

Excerpt

One never really realized how much New York City got under your skin until you left it for a while.
It was like one minute New York was your adopted home—a little bit intense, a lot scary.
And the next, you were holding your breath as your plane landed, your entire body on edge with the anticipation of being home again.
Jill Henley smiled as the plane touched down, her eyes closing just for a moment at the realization that she’d be sleeping in her own bed tonight. Going back to her job tomorrow. Eating at her favorite gyros place tomorrow.
But none of that—not the city, nor her pillow-top bed, nor the really freaking amazing gyros—were as important as who awaited her.
The Morettis.
Jill loved her mother desperately—it was the reason she’d spent the past three months in Florida taking care of her.
But the Moretti family had become every bit as much family to Jill as her own mom.
She couldn’t wait to see them again.
All of them.
Okay, so maybe there was one Moretti in particular whom she was especially excited to see.
Not that the excitement was mutual.
As she walked through JFK toward baggage claim, she couldn’t figure out for the life of her why she was even the tiniest bit disappointed about the fact that Vincent Moretti wouldn’t be the one picking her up from the airport.
She hadn’t even asked him. He might have said yes. Maybe. But it would have been done with a grunt and a grumble, and probably a lecture about how his workload was double because his partner had “up and ditched him.”
Besides, it made more sense for Elena to pick her up anyway.
Not only was Elena her best friend, but Elena was an attorney at a fancy-pants law firm, with access to a company car that was a hell of a lot nicer than Vin’s car and didn’t smell like old coffee.
Plus, Jill had news.
Big news.
The biggest.
The kind of news that female friends squealed over in the appropriate, gushing manner.
So why was she so nervous?

Review
Cuff Me was a fabulous story between two partners, one who is reserved and one who well isn't.

Jill has had feelings for her partner and best friends brother for years, but she can't see it going anywhere, she's lost alll hope that anything could or would happen between them, so when she finds herself away for a few months and meets another man, Jill decides to go forward with her life. But Jill also comes to find that she doesn't love her new guy fully and maybe she shouldn't continue that relationship, especially when it seems Vincent has finally noticed her.

Vincent isn't one to talk about his feelings, he's not one to be out there spouting feelings or taking plunges. Its takenhim a long time to come to terms with his feelings, but just before he can say anything, he's knocked sideways by the revelationthat Jill has found someone else.  It hits him hard, because he never thought he'd lose her, and now that is a possibility. But Vincent wants to try, he wants to put himself out there for once and admit to his feelings.

I think one of my favorite parts of this story was the fact that Vincent was the shy quiet one, it was refreshing to see a hero who wasn't in your face Alpha male.  Yes, he had some alphaness in him, nad he knew how to take control when needed, but Vincent was also deep and tender.

I love the family component as well, the fact that Jill was practically part of the Moretti family and had already won over everyone of them to the point they were rooting for her and Vincent, even before there was a her and Vincent really showed the closeness of the family. The way they loved and understood each other was a beautiful thing.

Cuff Me was HOT, filled with steamy moments, but also sweet, filled with contemplations and moments of sheer bliss.  Vincent and Jill's relationship blossomed as each page turned and it was fun to watch as they stumbled around each other, afraid for what the other wanted, and afraid that they would also end it.  This story was full of humor too.

Cuff Me took two fairly opposite people and showed how they were the perfect match. We got to see a tough man peel back his layers and expose his gentle heart, and try to change himself so he could be worthy of the woman he wanted. We also saw a woman try to understand the man she loved, who saw how he struggled to be something more for her. It was a beautiful thing to watch as these two fit the pieces together to grow stronger as a couple.  It wasn't easy for Vincent or Jill because they had to change their mindsets and accept that the other had limits and expectations that they needed to discuss and compromise on.

Review: Ginger's Heart by Katy Regnery

Ginger's Heart by Katy Regnery

Date of Publication: March 22, 2016

Blurb

"I finished Ginger's Heart last night, and I am completely and utterly in love." --Mia Sheridan, NY Times bestselling author

Once upon a time there were two cousins:
one golden like the sun,
one dark like midnight,
one a protector,
one a predator,
one a Woodsman
and
one a Wolf…
both owning equal,
but different,
parts of a little girl's heart.

In this modern retelling of "Little Red Riding Hood," the woodsman and the wolf are cousins, and Little Red is the girl with whom they both fall in love.

Beautiful Ginger McHuid, daughter of Kentucky's premiere horse breeder, grows up on her family farm, best friends with Cain Wolfram, the son of her father's Stallion Manager, and Cain's cousin, Josiah Woodman, son of a local banker. Throughout their happy childhood, the three are inseparable friends, but as they mature into adults, complicated feelings threaten to destroy their long history of friendship and love.

Ginger's Heart

*****

This is a standalone novel inspired by Little Red Riding Hood. New Adult Contemporary Romance: Due to profanity and very strong sexual content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

(The next standalone a modern fairytale novel, Don't Speak, inspired by The Little Mermaid, will be released in 2017.)

Review

Ginger's Heart was an amazing read.  I'm not generally a big fan of triangles, but this book was written perfectly and really portrayed the depth of the triangle.  But Love isn't built to design, the heart wants what the heart wants and love always finds a way.

Cain and Woodman are more than just cousins, they are practically brothers.  They've grown up in opposite circumstances all of their lives, but one thing remained, their love and loyalty to each other.  When Woodman placed his claim on the lovely Ginger, Cain walked away, because he thought Woodman was the better man.  But as these two men quickly realize, some choices can be made and not change anything.

Ginger has been friends with Cain and Woodman forever, she loves them both, but she's always been in love with Cain.  There's just something about him that calls to her even if no one else can see it.  But Ginger has pride, and she's only willing to be rejected so many times. Ginger chooses one brother over the other and thinks she can leave her feelings in the past, but its harder than she thinks, and she's not the only one suffering for it.

When tragedy strikes, Ginger is left reeling, not just because of the way her life has changed but because she realizes what she had done, not only to herself, but to Cain and Woodman.  Though they still have a lot to work through, misunderstandings, and pain and grief, Cain and Ginger grow closer once again as Cain makes good on his last promise to Woodman.

Ginger's Heart will suck you in from page one and keep you on the edge of your seat waiting to see how it all works out.  This story is an emotional journey, its a testament to True Love and finding your way even if (and when) it means going against what everyone else says is good for you.  It's a story about being genuinely torn between two people, two people you love in different ways and its a story of loss while also being a story of gains.  The characters were all unique in their own ways, their relationship between the three as friends and individually built a background that made it hard to say one is better than the other.

The heartache each of these characters, Ginger, Cain, and Woodman felt during the story really hit you like a punch to the gut, their feelings written so well they bleed of the page. The emotional highs and lows really add to the story and help you understand the characters and the choices they make or have made.  I Loved each part of the journey we were taken on as we watched who won Ginger's Heart.

An hour later they stopped by the Glenn River, eight miles downriver from Ginger's house and two from the distillery where Cain had partied last night.
"We should water them," he said, reining in Thunder and dismounting with the ease of a lifelong horseman.
She reined in Heath, who nickered in protest, and grinned down at Cain who reached up for her. His hands lingered for an extra moment on her hips as she slid down the front of his body. Leaning her head back, she stared up at him, daring him to pull her closer, to kiss her, to admit that this whole "friends" thing was bullshit on fire. But, he clenched his jaw, cleared his throat and dropped his hands.
"Thanks," she murmured, her voice husky in her ears as he stared down at her, his eyes flinty and dark.
Taking Heath's reins with a grunt, he turned away from her, leading the horses to the river's edge and leaving her to follow behind. She leaned down to pick up a flat stone and skipped it across the slow moving water.
"Not bad," said Cain.
"You were always the best."
"Nah," he said. "Woodman was better."
"Nope," she countered, picking up another stone. "Woodman was good, but you were better. Remember that Fourth of July that you skipped eleven times? Eleven times. It was a record."
Satisfied that the horses were calm and drinking their fill, Cain leaned down and grabbed a rock of his own, skipping it over the dark water.
One-two-three-four-five-six-seven…
"Wow!" she said, clapping lightly. "You've still got the touch!"
He turned to her, grinning. "You always get excited about the littlest things. What's it like gettin' a kick out of everythin', Gin?"
"What's it like gettin' a kick out of nothin', Cain?" she asked, her voice full of sass.
"I'm gettin' a kick out of you right now, princess."
A charge zapped between them as the words left his mouth, and her breath hitched and held for just a moment, but she looked down and picked up another rock. She was enjoying today too much to go back to Awkwardland.
She skipped her rock, which sunk after three measly hops.
"Remember when you saved my Cabbage Patch doll from certain doom in this river?" she asked him.
He screwed up his face as her. "Wasn't me. Must have been Woodman."
"It was you!" she insisted. "Not Woodman!"
"Savin' a dolly? Please. That has Woodman written all over it. I couldn't have cared less if it drowned."
"But I cared," she said softly. "Which is why you saved it."
"Fine. Have it your way," he said, sitting down on a large rock near the water's edge.
She sighed, squatting down to wash her hands in the clear water before looking back at him. "Why do you do that?"
"Do what?"
"Let Woodman take credit for all the good things?"
He shrugged, looking away from her, out at the water. "I don't."
"You just did. Twice."
He sighed, giving her a long-suffering look. "If somethin' good happened, chances were, it was Woodman's doin'."
"How do you figure?"
"He's the better man, Gin," said Cain, his eyes severe, his words deliberate.
She stood up slowly, turning her body completely to face him. "Do you really believe that?"
He looked away. "It's the truth."
"Cain. Cain, look at me." Her words didn't feel like enough so she beseeched him with her eyes too. "You're just as good a man as he is."
"Ha!" scoffed Cain, standing up and moving away from her. "Not in this life, princess."

Excerpt & Review Tour: Nobody's Obligation by Rebecca Barber

Ava Jacobs is a shy accountant by day, aspiring romance writer by night—and her first novel just got published…

Romance isn’t a big component of Ava’s life. That is, her real life. As the monotonous nature of crunching numbers and drawn-out board meetings slowly eats away at her, the only bright side to her otherwise mundane routine lies on the black and white pages of her debut romance novel. Her inspiration? A long-time infatuation—Tyler Andrews.

Until the Olympic swimmer read her novel and connected the dots…

Tyler Andrews is used to being the center of attention. But when his sister throws a romance novel in his lap, he’s surprised to be the inspiration for the hot, hunky hero. He has no idea who Ava Jacobs is, but he’s not at all happy with her using his likeness to spice up her steamy scenes. When he finally tracks her down, it’s her likeness that intrigues him.

It takes just one romantic dance at a company banquet to spark disaster…

When Tyler’s manager arranges a daring publicity stunt and offers him as an auction item at Ava’s fundraising banquet, the bids come in quick and hot. Little did Ava expect the winner, a work colleague, to donate Tyler as Ava’s date. With all eyes on the Olympic athlete, Ava can’t refuse a romantic dance. But even though Tyler was the inspiration for Ava’s steamy novel, she refuses to accept his attention if it’s not real.

Will Tyler lose the one woman who caught his interest? Or will Ava push him away in an effort to prove she’s…

Nobody’s obligation.

EXCERPT ONE:
Tyler slumped in the oversized chair wringing his hands nervously, wishing he was anywhere but here, but he couldn’t walk away now. No. It was his fault she was hurt and he would do the right thing. He would stay until he knew she was okay. Until he had the chance to apologise.
“I don’t get it,” he admitted. “What’d I do? I didn’t even speak to her.”
“It’s not you, Tyler,” Christopher assured him with a sly smirk.
Tyler found himself wondering if Christopher had any other faces. In the ten minutes that he had met him, Christopher had half smiled more times than anyone Tyler had ever known. It was the kind of half grin that said ‘I know something you don’t know,’ and Tyler was desperate to discover what was behind it. There was a quiet confidence that Christopher exuded that intimidated the hell out of Tyler and he wasn’t sure where it came from.
“What is it then?” he almost begged, not recognising his own whiny voice. Tyler watched as the men exchanged glances. They were silently debating how much to tell him and how much to keep to themselves. In a way he understood, but he was about to burst with frustration. “Please! Someone just fucking tell me.”
Michael signed heavily, then looked at Christopher, who barely nodded before he began to speak. “It’s not you, Tyler. And it is you.”
“That makes no sense!”
“Tyler, Ava might look like the tough ‘nothing can hurt me’ ice queen, but that is so far from the truth I doubt she can even see reality anymore. Ava is a romantic in every sense of the word. And it’s worse than that. She’s an optimistic romantic. But life has beaten her down so many times that by hiding behind the tough as nails disguise no one can get close enough to hurt her. No one can scale the walls she’s built. No one except you,” Michael explained.
Tyler’s mouth fell open unconsciously as the words sunk in. “B-But she doesn’t even know me,” he mumbled.
“But she does. Tyler, for as long as I have known Ava, you have been her hero in every sense of the word. You’ve been her inspiration. Her guiding light. You were the one thing that was able to pull her from the darkness when it closed in and threatened to swallow her whole,” Christopher added, his voice soft and soothing.

EXCERPT 2:
The sound of the clock ticking was driving him insane. Every second that counted off left Tyler feeling like he was waiting for his own execution. His frustration was boiling. Unable to sit any longer, he stood and paced. A caged lion was calmer. He knew he didn’t have the right to be pissed that she had kept him waiting—she didn’t even know he was there—but that didn’t calm him. He was used to getting his way and for some reason this girl, a girl he’d never set eyes on nor spoken to had gotten under his skin. And now she was keeping him waiting.
Tyler paused and stared out the window, attempting to focus his attention on something else but it didn’t help. Nothing did. The heavily tinted glass just showed him his own reflection, and what he saw scared him. He was tired, dishevelled, and his eyes were wild. “Shit!” Tyler muttered to himself running his huge hands across his face willing himself to calm down. He couldn’t confront her looking like this. She would take off. Screaming. And as much as he wanted to punish her, he wanted to talk to her more. He wanted to know why she had done it, but even more importantly was how. How’d she get into his head and understand him better than even he understood himself without him even knowing?
Hearing voices on the other side of the door made him freeze. For almost twelve hours he’d thought of nothing but this moment, but now it was here he was having second thoughts. It was too late. He was here now. Time to get some answers.
Tyler sunk into the lounge and grabbed a fist full of the nearest cushion. Sucking in deep breaths, he tried repeating reassurances to himself. It wasn’t working. But then he realised it. The anger had faded. The annoyance and frustration were gone. Instead he was filled with nerves like he had never experienced before.
The door creaked open and she appeared. Her face directed down the hallway as she finished her conversation. Her voice washed through his body and suddenly he was calm. Tyler quickly rubbed his clammy hands along his thighs as he rose to meet her. His eyes betrayed him and disclosed his curiosity. Thankful that she was still occupied with finishing up her discussion, he noticed she seemed slightly off balance in her orange pumps. His gaze snuck up her legs appreciatively as an unexpected warmth spread through his body. Clenching his fists, he forced his eyes higher. First he noticed the slight pull of the fabric across her well-endowed chest before landing on the wet spot on the top of her breast, which left it clingy and transparent. A shallow groan tumbled from the back of his throat as he forced his eyes higher and met hers.
Tyler gulped down his embarrassment. He’d been caught blatantly ogling her. He’d come to see her, to yell at her and make her apologise. Yet somehow, without even trying or knowing it, she had completely turned the tables on him.
Her eyes went wide as she realised who was standing before her. An involuntary gasp choked out only seconds before she paled and fell to the floor in an unconscious pile.
