WANTED: Single dad needs nanny--In more ways than one.
Martin "Brick" Bricker is living the good life. He's playing the sport he loves, has all the women he can handle, and parties like a rock star. At twenty-six, he has no interest in slowing down or taking anything seriously--except hockey, of course.
Then a knock at his door changes everything.Suddenly he's the single father to a five-year-old daughter he didn't know he had, and he's trading his playboy ways for Barbies.
Amelia Stacey struggles to make ends meet and juggles her day-care job with a full load of college classes. When she's offered a temporary, two-week nanny position making more money than she imagines, she jumps at the chance. Before she knows it, she's in over her head, not just with her five-year-old charge but with the girl's hot single father.
Brick always goes after what he wants, and he wants Amelia. Only responsible Amelia doesn't want anything to do with the party boy. Struggling with fatherhood and his unexplainable attraction to his nanny, Brick has to figure out where his daughter and Amelia fit into his life.If they fit at all.
But one thing's for sure: Brick can't block this shot straight to his heart.
REVIEW
Goaltending was a fabulous addition to the series. In this book we get the story of Brick - who finds himself a bit lost with the discovery of a daughter.
When the little girl shows up on his porch, Brick isn't quite sure what to do but some instinct has him scrambling to do what's best for the child while he figures out the rest. So getting a nanny takes full precedence but while getting the nanny may be easy - what happens next isn't. Brick doesn't quite understand the pull to Amelia, he just knows he wants her in his life.
Amelia's been struggling with her job for a while, keeping up with it and her schooling is rough, so when an opportunity arises to get some extra money, she's all over it. But Amelia doesn't expect what can and will come of taking the job.
Amelia and Brick take quite a journey in this story on their path to on another. Brick has a lot to work through from his past and his impressions of relationships. Amelia also has to find a way to accept Brick as the man she's come to know and not the playboy from the media. Macy was a fun mix in the story - as children do, she provided several laughs, but also drew me in further to the story hoping for things to work out teh best.
One of my favorite parts of this series is the interactions between the players on the team. They are a bit of a family - and as such they tease and poke fun -but they also offer up support and valuable advice. It was no different in this story.
