Synopsis
Shame. Panic. Desire. Dominance. Disgust. All feelings that I was familiar with from the age of sixteen. That's when I met Ana. The girl next door who became so much more. Until her, I was alone in the dark desires that I didn't understand, that I couldn't reconcile.
My best friend, she accepted me. Helped me see that there was no shame in the things that we both craved. Her submission was a drug, my dominance over her a high that I'd never experienced. When we were together, I was at peace for the first time in my life.
But it was too good to last. Our own guilt over our feelings, of our appetite for pain and pleasure, destroyed us.
I was convinced that all I needed was a chance, just one more chance to overcome my shame, and Ana would be able to trust me again.
If only it were that easy.

Review
Fiona Cole's writing gets better and better and she brings a whole new spin on old tropes.
Shame Me Not is - at it's core - a friends to lovers story. But it goes so much more beyond that. This isn't your normal sweet tale of first love, its way more intense and full of twists.
The story starts at the first meeting of Ana and Kevin, as new neighbors, and it moves steadily from there. Full of emotion, steam, and a whole lot of conflicting feelings, the pages will pull you under into the world Cole has created between these two.
As everything unfolded, I found myself lost in the pages, trying to work through what I was reading and how it all would work out for the characters and trying to guess what was coming next. This story is a love story - but most importantly - it's about learning to love yourself - love who you are, even when it scares you. Cole pushed the envelope in a few places in this story, but it all melded together enhancing the story and making me understand the characters more.
