SYNOPSIS
They met under summer showers …
Vera Markovic only wanted a vacation away from New York where everyone knows her as a Russian Mafiya printsessa of the Markovic Bratva. She didn’t expect to find something worth remembering. And definitely not a man like Alfie Shelby.
They fell in love when the leaves changed colors …
As New York City’s notorious fixer, Alfie Shelby always gets what he wants—and when he sets his eyes on Vera, he’ll do anything to keep her … even if she’s not sure she wants to be kept.
And they nearly lost it all when the snow started to fall …
She wants nothing to do with a gangster.
A life of crime is all he knows.
But neither can deny what they have, even when forces beyond their control try to keep them apart.
REVIEW
Ah what can I say about this book that won't give anything important away. Like usual London Miller sucked me in from page one, penning an elaborate web of secrets, danger, romance, chemistry, the forbidden, drama and angst. Everything I could want and ask for in a mafia romance and then some - Miller has given it all in this story - which I think is my favorite book of hers yet.
Alfie is an amazing character, I was curious about it from page one, I could picture him and hear his accent as I read his parts and it all made me dig in deeper. He was a mafia man, hard when he needed to be but also completely taken by Vera.
Vera - first can I say how much I loved seeing her again and finally getting to see her get her own story. She's strong and determined, feisty and smart - but also loyal and giving. She's been hurt in the past, she wants nothing to do with the unsavory parts of her father's world and yet knows she can't fully be out of it.
From the start, I was taken by just how perfectly these two seemed to fit together and yet neither of them knew each other fully at the time. As the story unfolds and we delve deeper into their connection from that first meeting to more, I was excited to see what was coming next, what tailspin I would find myself wrapped in and just what was lurking. I was not disappointed with Alfie and Vera's journey - in fact as the book ended, all I could think was I wanted more.
