The Lying Season by K.A. Linde

A new second chance standalone office romance from USA Today bestselling author K.A. Linde…

Walking away from Sam Rutherford was the hardest thing I’ve ever done.
It's been five years since that day, and I've given up on looking for love. My focus is on my career. And it's paid off--I'm successfully managing the reelection for the mayor of New York City.

Then Sam walks into my office as the new legal counsel. Which means I have to see him every single day from now until November. We vow to remain professional, but it's a small office. The sly glances and his blistering charm are unavoidable.

It all feels so familiar. Too comfortable. After what happened the first time... I should know better.

If I'm not careful, he'll break my heart all over again.

And I don't know if I can survive Sam a second time.

I LOVE LOVE This Crew of characters! The Lying Season sucked me in from page one and took me on a journey that was about more than a second chance at romance. Lark and Sam really sucked me in, not only to their past, present and who they were as people, but to those around them as well. This story was so much more than a grab at a second chance of romance, it was a story of Love, Friends, forgiveness, finding ourselves and letting the truths we hold closest to our chests out.

Lark is a changed woman, one who picked up the pieces of her broken heart determined to make herself a better woman - and she succeeded much more than she thought she could, but then found the new her might be on the line with the reappearance of her lost love, Sam. I really loved watching Lark dig deep in herself to discover that she had many layers to who she truly was and she could show parts of each side to the world.

Sam was a man who had his own struggles and his own problems. I liked watching him struggle with who he was and how he fit in with his new 'circle' of friends and co workers. It really shed a light on who he was at his core.

I fell in love with the surrounding cast of characters too and honestly felt bereft to not know more about them, but I'm hoping to discover their stories in the future.
