Review
I absolutely loved Lex's Shameless so when I knew there was going to be another book - I was all in before I knew the details. Reckless can absolutely be read as a standalone - but I really recommend reading Shameless as well - before or after, just read it!
Reckless sucked me in from the first page - curious to see how things would play out based on the blurb and getting to know these two characters. With her usual flair, Lex Martin delivered a funny yet swoon-worthy tale of unexpected love and so much more.
Tori was fun to get to know, she's sassy and unapologetic about being her and doing Tori. But she's got her reasons and has been hurt in the past. Sworn off men for the foreseeable future, Tori doesn't expect to find herself connecting with her new boss, the father of the children she's watching - but she also can't really stop it.
Ethan's got his own painful past and of utmost importance to him is being a good dad and taking care of his children. He doesn't want to make a mistake again of letting the wrong woman in his life.
The interactions between these two grabbed me from moment one, I loved the banter, I loved that little bit of animosity turned something so much deeper and I enjoyed as they figured out each other. There was the addition of drama with Ethan's ex that annoyed me - but it was a fitting addition to the story - gave it that certain wedge.
If you've read Lex Martin before, you'll find yourself as in love with this story and these characters as you have in previous books, and if you've never had the pleasure - you'll find yourself hooked on the brilliant writing, and craving more of these characters and their stories.
