Blog Tour: Defying her Mafioso by Terrin Anne Browning

DEFYING HER MAFIOSO by Terri Anne Browning is now LIVE!

BLURB:
Ciro Donati was many things:
My father’s most valued and trusted soldier.
My brother’s best friend and second in command.
And the only man I would give up everything for.

I fell hard for the Mafioso at the tender age of eleven. This beast of a man who I knew made people disappear—and probably enjoyed every second of it—was also the sixteen-year-old boy who had picked me up after I’d fallen flat on my face during my dance recital and told me I was the best ballerina he’d ever seen. He’s watched over me, protected me like I was the most precious thing in the world to him.

And then he sent me away.

Scarlett Vitucci was many things:
The daughter of the biggest Cosa Nostra boss from New York to Chicago.
The sister of the man I would gladly take a bullet for.
And the only woman I would ever love.

Sending her away was the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but I didn’t deserve her or her love. For three years I stayed away, ignoring the gnawing ache that her absence left in my chest. Now, she was back and fighting what I felt for her was impossible. Letting her go had been a huge mistake.

One I would never repeat.

Review

Having read Terri Anne Browning's books before, I was excited to see where she would take us with this book.  Mafia books are some of my favorites because there is so much danger, and mystery, and risks, when you throw in some romance it becomes even better, so I was already anticipating a lot of this book.

The prologue dove us straight into the suspense angle, leaving us to question what was going on with Scarlett and what would be coming in the book IE what had led us to that point. But it also gave us insight into Scarlett as well, her strength of will, her desperate need for Ciro, and the love  and loyalty she had to and for her sister.

I loved the relationship between Scarlett and her twin sister, Victoria, "Tor",  it was very realistic and also gave us a glimpse at how two people raised the same way can be so different. They needed each other on a level most siblings do not understand, so even when they were direct opposites, they couldn't hold it against the other.

Scarlett and Tor have recently returned the fold after being sent away by their father and his right hand man, Ciro, the man who just so happens to be the one Scarlett has loved for ages and the man who knows he wants Scarlett having no part in his life.  Things were more calm with their grandmother and Scarlett isn't quite used to the differences again yet.

Ciro wants to believe he can keep Scarlett away, but there's an undeniable pull there, and he's not as unaffected as he'd like to be.  He knows the only person he's been fooling (and hurting) with his refusal and denial is Scarlett and that is just about to come to a stop.  There was a lot of push and pull between them, but it  overpowered by the tension and sparking chemistry. There was no denying what was brewing between them.

Defying her Mafioso is full of drama, passion, and loads of tension.  There is a lot going on in the story beyond Scarlett and Ciro's  will they or won't they relationship.  Victoria has her own dangerous situation going on with an associate of her father, Adrian.  I felt sucked into the darkness that surrounds this mafia romance page by page and couldn't help but wait on the edge of my seat for what would come.  The risks, the lurking danger, the suspense of it all really held my interest and told a compelling story.

Because this is book one in the series, it was an introduction to a lot of characters in addition to the main focus of this book, Ciro and Scarlett.  I loved what we got to see of Vito and Cristiano,  Anya and more and I can't wait to see what is in store for all of these characters in coming books.
