REVIEW
Where the Wind Whispers brings us the dramatic conclusion to Kaz and Violet's story and what a wild ride it's been.
Kaz is in a bad way, left for dead, with two factions out to get him, his father and those whom have taken his side and the Italians who are doing the bidding of Violet's father. But Kaz knows the score, he knows what needs to be done and he's ready to end this war, he just has to make it out alive.
Violet's concerned for Kaz and herself, worried about what's to come and how its going to be handled and she doesn't exactly like the plans Kaz is making. She's tough though and doesn't fight when she knows it will make Kaz feel better.
I loved how Kaz and Violet had such a push and pull through this book, his wanting to do whatever it took vs her wanting to stay together and fight it all as one. There was a lot going on between these two and in their battle against their fathers and I felt drawn deeper into the underbelly of both of their mob worlds. There were a couple new characters in this addition, that added to the story, gave me someone new to question thier motives, but also someone who could be an ally in some way.
Where the Wind Whispers took us on journey with Kaz and Violet, we got to see them work through their own lives, triumphs and defeats, pain and suffering, both mental and physical and we got to see them overcome and find their way to a happier ending.
It was interesting to watch as those members of the Russian mafia and Italian mafia chose sides between the man they trusted as head of their "Family" and the risk to their own lives. There was a lot of undercurrent between the two factions and as secrets spilled and hard decisions were made, those remaining were left in precarious position, continuing War or finding a way to make peace.
I love that though the stakes were high and danger was coming from all directions that Kaz and Violet were able to work through their own squabbles to form a tight knit team and make moves they both could approve of. It isn't always easy for them to agree or allow the other to be at risk, but there's a deep understanding between them as well. I couldn't have pictured a different ending that would give closure to the arc of the story than the one delivered in this book.
