0.5 in The Kiss of Death Series. Prequel novella to Kill Me.
At thirteen years old I was sold, doomed to become a sex slave.
Nicholai Ivanov, boss of the Russian Bratva, gave me the ultimate gift. He saved me from a fate worse than death. He promised to make me strong, because only the strong survive, and the weak die, forgotten and inconsequential.
I now live in a world of blood and violence, where humanity itself is a weakness. My life is not a battle of bad and good, but bad and worse. This is kill or be killed, survival of the fittest.
Make me or break me?

I read Kill Me first, so I knew a little bit of Una's past - but I loved how this book expanded on that and took us along for the journey, from the moment Una was plucked from the orphanage. This book gripped me in its pages and took me along for a heartbreaking but wild ride.
From her developing connections to the boys she trained with, to her thoughts and feelings on Nicholai and her trainer James, each page of this book gave me more insight into who Una was. This story made me have a whole lot of respect for her strength and will to survive, because she didn't have anything easily.
I look forward to reading more books in this series, as each one has so far pulled me in and held me captive with the story of strong female characters who endure and grow rather than cower away and give up when life implodes on them.
