When rescue looks like a whole lot of trouble . . .

The road trip was definitely a bad idea. Having already flambĂ©ed her culinary career beyond recognition, Rita Clarkson is now stranded in God-Knows-Where, New Mexico, with a busted-ass car and her three temperamental siblings, who she hasn't seen in years. When rescue shows up—six-feet-plus of hot, charming sex on a motorcycle—Rita's pretty certain she's gone from the frying pan right into the fire . . .

Jasper Ellis has a bad boy reputation in this town, and he loathes it. The moment he sees Rita, though, Jasper knows he's about to be sorely tempted. There's something real between them. Something raw. And Jasper has only a few days to show Rita that he isn't just for tonight—he's forever.

QUESTION & ANSWER WITH TESSA

1. What is your favorite part of the writing process?

There’s this never-fails stride I hit when I’ve written about 80% of the book where writing becomes easier. When I can see light at the end of the tunnel and I have a clearer picture of how the heroine and hero will resolve their issues, I write a million times faster. It’s like I become possessed and my fingers fly across the keyboard. I want to give the characters their Happily Ever After and I look forward to hitting that stride every time!

2. How do you name your characters? Are any named after friends/family/enemies?

The only books/series wherein I’ve named characters after family members is the ROMANCING THE CLARKSONS series. Rita, Peggy and Belmont were the names of my grandmother’s siblings in real life. Her amazing stories about them inspired the books, so I thought this would be a nice tribute to them and her.

3. How long does it take you to complete a story after you've decided to write it?

Writing the first draft of a book takes me 4-6 weeks. The editing process is about 2 weeks when all is said in done. In total, I would say I devote two months to each book, but sometimes projects overlap (okay, always lol) so there’s never a clear-cut space of time for just one single book.

4. Is there a trope/genre you haven't written a story in that you want to? If so, what trope/genre is it?

Lately, I’ve (no joke) been daydreaming about vampires. I’ve never written or even entertained the idea of writing paranormal (although I love reading it) but I’m also really, horribly impulsive. Some day I might just decide to dive in and test the waters of something completely new!

5. Who are your favorite authors?

Oh man! I have my big five right now. Charlotte Stein (read TAKEN or NEVER SWEETER…do it now!), Mariana Zapata (check out KULTI), Kresley Cole (anything, just anything), Sally Thorne (She only has one book out—ack!—but it’s my favorite book. Read THE HATING GAME and make your life better). And Julie Garwood will always, always be my sentimental favorite. She’s why I write.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Tessa Bailey is originally from Carlsbad, California. The day after high school graduation, she packed her yearbook, ripped jeans, and laptop, and drove cross-country to New York City in under four days. Her most valuable life experiences were learned thereafter while waitressing at K-Dees, a Manhattan pub owned by her uncle. Inside those four walls, she met her husband, best friend, and discovered the magic of classic rock, managing to put herself through Kingsborough Community College and the English program at Pace University at the same time. Several stunted attempts to enter the work force as a journalist followed, but romance writing continued to demand her attention.

She now lives in Long Island, New York with her husband and daughter. Although she is severely sleep-deprived, she is incredibly happy to be living her dream of writing about people falling in love.
