Julia left town after a devestating event left her without her husband and child. Since she's been gone, she's found out things about her husband that change how she'd seen him and their life together. After years of being away, she's finally coming back for the holidays to spend with her in-laws and her husband's best friend, who just happens to be the sheriff.
Chase tries hard at being a good dad for his daughter. He's very particular about the people and things he lets in to his life and his daughter's because he doesn't want to see her hurt again. But something about Julia calls to him. He's liked her for a while, and their friendship has changed and grown over the years. But now that she's back in town, he realizes there could be something more there.
Julia doesn't want to ruin anyones memory of her deceased husband, so she's kept in all that she's learned, but when things reach a new level with Chase, she has to know if he had any idea of what went on. Chase is shocked at her revelation, having beleived that his best friend had a solid relationship and that he'd known him. Julia cares a lot about what others think of her, so it is hard for her to give in to taking a chance on love with Chase, but eventually she comes to the realization that she loves both Chase and his daughter.
Christmas with the Sheriff was a beautiful story that took us on an emotinal journey for two people. Julia and Chase had their own struggles to work through to come together, but they had a few pushes from those they love to help them see the way. I loved how this story came together, how the side characters added to the story, giving advice, or just showing love, helping Julia see that she didn't have to give up her future happiness.
