Blurb:

TRU BLUE is a sexy, dark stand-alone novel written in the same loving, raw, and emotional voice romance readers have come to love, and the deeply emotional literary prose women's fiction readers have come to expect, from New York Times & USA Today bestselling, award-winning author Melissa Foster.

TRUMAN "TRU" GRITT is one hard-ass, loyal bastard. There's nothing he won't do to protect his family--Including spending a decade in jail for a crime he didn't commit. When he's finally released, the life he knew is turned upside down by his mother's overdose, and Tru steps in to raise the children she's left behind. Tru's hard, he's damaged, and he's trying to save a brother who's even more broken than he is. He's never needed help in his life, and when beautiful Gemma Wright tries to step in, he's less than accepting. But Gemma has a way of slithering into people's lives and eventually she pierces through his ironclad heart. When Tru's dark past collides with his future, his loyalties will be tested, and he'll be faced with his toughest decision yet.

REVIEW

Tru Blue was an endearing romantic tale about two people who find each other at the most perfect time.

Truman, "Tru", is fresh out of prison, for a crime he didn't commit, and he's trying to stay clean and remain on the good side of the law, but his loyalty to his family sometimes gets him tangled up into messes he shouldn't be.  His problem is he wants to help his family, he wants to see them get well, and its that loyalty that could find him in trouble again.

When Tru discovers he has new siblings since his release and sees the horrific way they are being brought up, nothing is going to stop him from making sure they are okay and well taken care of.  He doesn't want them to suffer the fate he had to.  But Tru's lost when it comes to taking care of children and finds aid in a stranger at walmart, Gemma.

Gemma can't help but be drawn to Tru and his sweet siblings, though she questions things, she knows he's a good man and a great father to those kids.  Together Gemma and Tru work together to make live great for the babies and fall deeper for each other. But life isn't easy, and obstacles come for these too.

I really liked the way Melissa Foster drew me into this story, with this sweet but tough man who went to mush for a baby and a toddler.  His whole loyalty changed in a moment and I knew he'd do anything for those children.  Gemma's character also has realistic struggles and she was a relatable character, someone I'd be best friends with and want in my life.

I enjoyed how all of the pieces of this story wove together and how the romance bloomed between Tru and Gemma.  It all moved along steadily and told a beautiful story of redemption and second chances at life.
