Strength is born during the moments that are meant to break us.

Monsters didn’t just exist in nightmares.

They were real; they lived among us. As the sole witness to a brutal murder, Ryann Sinclair knew that better than anyone.

He’d been burned once, and Cashel Donovan swore it was the last time.

Until Ryann Sinclair walked back into his life.

She was fiercely protective of her heart, and he was hell-bent on protecting her.

Cash’s POV

“Stay.”

It’s uttered so quietly, I assume she’s dreaming. Without turning to look at her, I take another step out of the room.

“Please.”

There is a desperate sound in her tone that seizes my heart and traps the air in my lungs. Turning back, I go to the side of the bed and crouch down, so I’m eye-level with her. Softly, I push the hair off her forehead and hold her gaze. All her defenses are down. If a person’s eyes are windows to their soul, I feel like I’m seeing into the depths of her. Seeing all the broken pieces.

“All right, baby girl, I’ll stay.”

Review

Healing the Broken grabbed my attention from page one and had me desperate to know what happened next. This debut novel is extremely well put together and reads beautifully.  The prologue really sets the bait to grab my interest and hold it.  I'm going to keep this review spoiler free because it is defintely a story to go into without preconceived notions.

Cash is surpised upon coming into his cousin's new business to see a woman from his past behind the bar.  Ryann is just as shocked to see him standing in front of her.  And thus kicks us of on an emotional journey for these two people.

Ryann is a tough girl, she's been hurt in the past, and she's been down low and has made a vow to herself to never be in that position before, so she works hard and does what she needs to do, but she's not open. Not open to love, not open to really living.

Cash sees through the mask Ryann portrays, he sees that she's broken but also knows he can change that, he can heal her heart and soul, if he can get in there.  He's such a swoon worthy hero, because he wants to be everything she needs, he wants to prove himself to her.

Healing the broken made me cry, it made me smile, and it made me swoon and maybe even made me want to be a little violent at times, but the point is it made me FEEL.   There are so many twists and turns throughout the story that just made me dig in deeper.  With each new twist, I felt as if I knew the characters more, as if I could feel what they felt, see what they saw and it made a real connection for me.

In life, things are not always pretty, there isn't always love, there isn't always hope or peace or all the things people dream about. Sometimes life is dark, and cruel, and sometimes people begin to believe in the worst life has to offer because that's what they know, that's what they see. They live with the secrets because when things are unknown they don't have to be real.  But instead of allowing these things to remain buried, these secrets, K. Street lifts the veil off them within the pages of this book, drawing us deep into it; bring life into those moments and grabbing at our heart strings, wringing our emotions at the same time.

This novel is so much more than a love story, its so much more than a second chance for two people who knew each other long ago and with each word, K. Street delivers a story about the power of love.

I cannot wait to see what comes next from this author, for a debut this amazing, she's sure to be an author to watch for.
