REVIEW

Relentless River was a story that sucked me in right away, with characters that are compelling and complex and an underlying touch of suspense.

Cheri's been through a lot in life, the good, the bad, the ugly, it's always there in the back of her mind, but Cheri strives to keep positive. She's got a decent life now, a good job managing the bar, a home with her cousin, her only real family, and a desire for the Sheriff, if only she could get him to see her as something more than the wild girl he believes her to be.

Bo was the kind of man who knew what he wanted, or at least thought he knew. While there was an attraction to the bar manager, Cheri, she wasn't at all the type of woman he could see himself with, so he's done all he could to stay away, but he just can't avoid the pull. So when Cheri is in trouble, Bo finds himself being sucked in to not only the danger swirling around her, but also deeper into her. And with that building closeness, Bo discovers that maybe, just maybe, what he thought he didn't want, could be just right for him.

I loved the way Bo and Cheri worked together, the pushing and pulling, trying to figure out what their relationship is and how to respond to it. Their interactions ranged from funny to serious, to make you want to argue with them but each showed their bond in a way they couldn't see at first. The elements of danger Cheri finds herself in, and Bo's desperate need to help her through it built up the story. I enjoyed the side characters and the comic relief they sometimes brought to the story, cutting the tension in the bar at times, or adding a bit more to the small town feel.

As we discover more about the situation Cheri has found herself in, and we watch her and Bo grow closer, the story pulls us even deeper into the mysteries of it all. Filled with questions about certain aspects, I really liked how it all pulled together, snagging my interest and stirring up theories in my mind. Though a lot of this book was about the connection between Bo and Cheri and growing it into something more, there was also so much more buried within the pages making the story flow beautifully together.
