Synopsis
Foster Kavanaugh, former Navy SEAL, knows what it’s like to be the top dog, the man in charge, the one calling the shots. Now that he’s running his own security consulting firm, not much has changed.Except the curvy blonde he hired as his office manager.
Noelle Davis has been through the damn ringer. Swearing off men after escaping a toxic relationship, she’s grateful for a fresh start—new job included. Except her job isn’t tranquil and calm. In fact, it’s quite the opposite because her boss is the most infuriating man on the planet.
And, not to mention, sexy as hell.
Foster has limits. Rules. No attachments allowed because he doesn’t do love—and Noelle Davis foiled that plan and took a red pen to his list of rules. With her smart mouth and quick witted banter, he found the woman beginning to creep past his defenses. When circumstances put Noelle in a perilous position, the first person to come to her rescue is none other than Foster Kavanaugh. She gets to see the man in action—not as her aggravating boss, but the man who will stop at nothing to keep her safe. The same man who makes her want to reconsider her self-imposed embargo of men. The man she wants to get to know now that she’s seen another side of him. The man who makes her want…more. But is more possible when you're OUT OF LOVE?

I've read a few RC Boldt books before, and what I love about them is that they always suck me in because the characters are compelling and give me a story that I can fall into quickly and stay hooked on.
When Noelle took her job with Foster - she wasn't exactly honest with him - she didn't fudge about her qualifications, but rather about her past and the little fact that she was running from something in it. The same thing from her past that's caused her to be off men for the foreseable future. Unfortunately for Noelle, the past she wants so badly to forget and move past - isn't so easily forgotton or giving up on her.
When Foster hired Noelle, he did so because she was qualified for the job, but also because there was something about her. Something he knew he couldn't ever explore, something he knew made her a woman who was so much better than himself and what he could offer. But when he starts noticing something off about her behavior, and then discovers the danger she's in from the past - Foster can do nothing but step in to help.
I loved the banter and connection between Foster and Noelle - even from the start, you could tell they had quite a friendship and deeper connection. Though they were both fighting it, the truth was clear as day. That type of connection and friendship really makes a wonderful foundation for an amazing relationship so it was no surprise to me that it grew into something more.
The side characters throughout the book, most notably Foster's sister just added an extra something to the story. They added humor, they added emotion, and more they just made the book more relatable.
I reallly enjoyed the journey we took with Noelle and Foster within the pages of Out of Love, it wasn't your typical easy story, no clear road to romance, but rather one that took work, and patience, and a whole lot more. Once they finally give in a bit, not fully mind you, to the tempation of the other, they find that it's more than they ever expected, but yet they both are still holding back one important thing. Once they let it all on they line, can they continue on as they have been, can their connection withstand the knowledge they've been hiding from each other?
