Privilege dives us right back into the world of the Marcello family, this time with the baby of the bunch, Lucia. And what a story she has in store. This story has all the wonderful trappings of Bethany-Kris' usual books, a touch of forbidden, the danger of the mafia world, and an undeniable connection that spurns true love. But can Lucia and Renzo make it work?
Renzo and Lucia couldn't be more different if they tried, and not solely for their places in the world, she a mafia princess and baby of the rich family and he a poor boy who never really stood a chance but wants better for his family. I loved getting to know these two, diving deeper into the true character of each of them and finding myself rooting for a win for them as a couple.
I was sucked in to this story from page one, curious to see how things would play out and what obstacles would be thrown at these two as they tried to find a path together. I loved how Lucia struggled with finding her place outside of her coddled life growing up, how she wanted space and to see who she was away from the spoiling of her family. I adored Renzo's determination to not let his siblings suffer if he could help it, that he didn't allow his past to really stop him from moving on.
Privilege was full of hot, steamy moments, lots of action, a touch of suspense and of course danger - hey it is the mafia! But there's so much more depth to this story and these characters than that. The bit of forbidden between them just makes the story that much more intense and held me captive and needing more when the last page flipped.
Bethany-Kris did an amazing job pulling me in and starting this foundation for Lucia and Renzo and I'm anxious to see where their story takes us in the next installment.
