Review: Playing for Keeps by Jill Shalvis

If you’re planning on falling in love…

When it comes to the confident, charismatic Caleb Parker, Sadie Lane feels the spark—the kind that comes from rubbing each other the wrong way. She’s a tattoo artist, he’s a straight-laced mogul. But after they accidentally co-rescue an abandoned dog from a storm, Sadie sees a vulnerable side to the seemingly invincible hottie.
you’d better be sure…
Caleb doesn’t do emotions. Growing up the underdog, he’s learned the hard way to build up an impenetrable wall. Perfect for business. Disastrous for relationships. He’s never worried about it before—not until he finally gets behind Sadie’s armor and begins to fall.
… someone is there to catch you.
Both guarded and vulnerable, Sadie and Caleb are complete opposites. Or are they? Shocked at their undeniable connection, can they ever admit to wanting more? That all depends on what they’re each willing to risk.

REVIEW

Playing For Keeps is another winning book in the Heartbreaker Bay series. One of my favorite things about this series, besides the small town family feel, is that there is also more going on to/with the characters than you know at first glance. Shalvis always delivers a love story that has so much to offer, not just the characters, but the readers as well.

Sadie and Caleb deliver a story of opposites attract, only the more they get to know each other the more they see how much they actually fit. There's been a slight build up to this brewing connection between them in previous books, which had me excited to see how things would actually bring them together and I couldn't have imagined anything better.

I really enjoyed getting to know both Sadie and Caleb better, seeing deeper into who they were exactly and why and watching them try to figure out the feelings between them. With help from some of my favorites in the area, this story fit in to the others quite well and left me still feeling like part of the group and hoping for more.
