Book Tour: The Absolution of Aidan by Kathy Coopmans

The Absolution of Aidan is Book three of The Best Selling Syndicate Series by Kathy Coopmans is Now Available!

Blurb
Aidan Hughes
I was cruel to Deidre La Russo. Said things I should never say to a woman.
Seen things happen to her.
Things darker than the bottle of liquor I consume.
I felt helpless.
Defeated.
The memories are more tortuous than the act of her torture.
Then she walks back into my life, only she’s not alone.

Deidre La Russo
I have my reasons for leaving.
I lived through hell.
I was beaten, tortured. Drugged.
I have secrets.
I have to tell them.
Danger brought us all together.
Danger may rip us apart.

Excerpt

Aidan Hughes. I can focus on him. No, not him. Images of his bruised and battered face invade my mind, mixing with those voices.
Aidan can never see me like this. He’s lodged in my head too. I should hate him after the things he said to me, the way he treated me after we gave in to the carnal desire we felt for each other. I know I treated the man poorly, but he just kept getting under my skin. His deep voice. His bright blue eyes. His muscular body. His six-foot-something frame. I hate him.
Oh, I heard him, all right, demanding for me to hang on while I felt like I was going to die every time Royal pierced me with his knife. He even called me baby a few times. He’s a callous asshole. A user. A fucking tool of a man, and I don’t want to see him. I’ve gone insane. I don’t want or need anybody. They can let me die. Yes. The only way to get rid of any and all of these voices in my head is to die.
“Deidre.” An older woman comes into my room, followed by my dad. The look of concern on their faces stops me in the tracks of plotting ways to kill myself.
“I’m Doctor Jenkins. Your father here has told me you want to leave. I cannot discharge you. This is the best place for you to be. You have to heal. Now, are you in any pain, sweetheart? Would you like the nurse to give you—”
“Noooooooooooooo! Quit saying I have to heal! You don’t know what I need or have to do! None of you do!” I scream. Her body jolts back.
I’ve fucking had it with these people not listening to me. I start to thrash in the small bed. Kick the covers off. My body is so weak I have no idea what the hell I’m doing. All I know is if they won’t help me, then I will help myself. I will get out of here. I will. Then I will die. The howling laughter, the slimy deep tones, their faces, they will all be gone.

My Review:

The Absolution of Aidan was my first book by Kathy Coopmans and I can tell you it won't be my last.

Aidan's at a point in his life, where he's over the life he's been leading. He's over flings, over women coming and going in his life. He's just about ready to settle down and find the woman to build a life and future with.  In his head he knows the woman he would choose to fill the role, but he hasn't seen her in a year, and doubts she'd forgive him if he knew where she was.

Deidre has suffered a lot, she went through torture and came out on the other side badly bruised and broken. But a Miracle came out of that time in her life, something to live for, something to help her move past it all. Something she now needs to share with not only her friends, but also the man who helped make said miracle. Deidre has no idea how Aidan is going to react to the news they have a son, but she knows she can't keep them apart.

When Deidre walks back into to his life, bring with her a son, Aidan knows this is his chance at finding true happiness, he just has to get Deidre on board with his plans. He dives right in from moment one, telling her what they are going to do, and then begging her to follow along.

There's a lot going on around them, dangerous things they are sucked into, but while fighting to keep his family safe, Aidan secures his future by being who and what Deidre and his son need.

The Absolution of Aidan was an emotional read that was heart breaking at times, it was painful to imagine the things Aidan went through and how it has affected his present and past actions. Knowing all that Aidan and Deidre suffered made it easy to see how hard it was for them to really open themselves up to trying a real relationship, trying to become a real family. This story was also full of action and suspense, not knowing when or if the bad guy was going to pop back up and what he would do.

Each of the characters in this story really add to the family feel, the knowledge that sometimes when you are born into a bad place, a bad family, you can find something better outside of it. Sometimes the family that chooses us is much better than the one we are given at birth. Aidan learned a lot about who he was and who he wanted to be in the year Deidre was gone, and once she was back, he wasted no time in proving he could put forth the effort and make it worth it.
