Release Blitz & Review: Strong Signal by Megan Erickson & Santino Hassell

Strong Signal

Blurb:

I was counting down the months until the end of my deployment. My days were spent working on military vehicles, and I spent my nights playing video games that would distract me until I could leave Staff Sergeant Garrett Reid behind.

That was when I met him: Kai Bannon, a fellow gamer with a famous stream channel.

I never expected to become fixated on someone who'd initially been a rival. And I'd never expected someone who oozed charm to notice me—a guy known for his brutal honesty and scowl. I hadn't planned for our online friendship to turn into something that kept me up at night—hours of chatting evolving into filthy webcam sessions.

But it did. And now I can't stop thinking about him. In my mind, our real life meeting is perfect. We kiss, we fall into bed, and it's love at first sight.

Except, like most things in my life, it doesn't go as planned.

*Strong Signal is a standalone, full-length novel with no cliffhanger*

Wow!! Megan and Santino did a fabulous job on this book!

Strong Signal was an epic collaboration between Megan and Santino. They wrote a fabulously cohesive story that left me craving more. Kai and Garrett's story is told in dual POV's.

Garrett is on deployment and confused about where he's headed after this deployment is over and he's back stateside and no longer enlisted. To get through downtime, he plays video games, and after getting smashed one night by a fellow gamer, he finds himself drawn to that gamer's live feed and chat.

Kai's life revolves around his gaming, his Twitch feeds, and he lives in a very closed off world of his own making. After he stomps a player in game, and gets a lashing from that player later in his stream, Kai isn't sure what to think. He asks around and when he discovers that the other player is a deployed serviceman, he feels a little bad about it and also has a few slightly irrational worries.

A few chat posts here and there, and Garrett opens himself up to contacting Kai, asking for a personal chat, and Kai gives in, not something he'd normally do. Though their first chats are awkward they both find themselves compelled to respond, to connect, and they find themselves flirting. As their communication continues, they both begin to develop feelings for the other, but Kai hasn't been as up front as maybe he should have been.

When Garrett makes it home, the first thing he does is head over to Kai's to surprise him in person, only it doesn't go at all like he had imagined. Eventually Garrett is able to help Kai overcome the situation and the two find themselves falling together as if they've known each other forever.

Kai's pretty much alone, minus interactions with a couple neighbors, while Garrett has a pretty involved family. The differences there show us a bit of reasoning for the way each of these two reason within themselves.

Strong Signal delivers us the tale of two guys who met over the internet, who connected on many levels via social media for months before finally meeting in real life. We see these two trying to figure out their relationship, but also watch as Garrett tries to decide what he's going to do with his life now that he's out. It doesn't always go to plan and he's got to make tough decisions, but he wants to do that with Kai by his side. Kai also has his own decisions to make, his own internal struggles to face, before he can move on with Garrett.

Strong Signal isn't your average story, and Kai and Garrett aren't your typical characters. They have real life struggles, they have personal demons that influence who they are. This book pulls you in with emotions, moments that will leave you breathless and others that will make you chuckle. Sexy moments intersperse with serious ones and make it so this story is well rounded and pulls you in completely. This book will give you all of the feels.

About the Authors:

Megan Erickson

Megan Erickson is a former journalist who switched to fiction when she decided she liked writing her own endings better. She likes to pretend she has control now, but usually her characters are the ones who hold the reins. Her romance novels have a touch of humor, a dash of nerdy, and always a happily ever after.

She lives in Pennsylvania with her husband, two kids, and two cats named after John Hughes characters. She's still waiting for the party she was promised when she grew to five feet... maybe because she never got there.

Santino Hassell

Santino Hassell was raised by a conservative family, but he was anything but traditional. He grew up to be a smart-mouthed, school cutting grunge kid, then a transient twenty-something, and eventually transformed into an unlikely romance author.

Santino writes queer romance that is heavily influenced by the gritty, urban landscape of New York City, his belief that human relationships are complex and flawed, and his own life experiences.
