The Theory of Deviance by Rebecca Grace Allen
Date of Publication: August 2, 2016
Blurb
Deviance is unacceptable. It's taboo. And it's the one thing he's always wanted.
Portland Rebels, Book 3
Painful shyness isn't the only reason Mikey Pelletier is a twenty-five-year-old virgin. Between working for his parents and volunteering at his church, he neither has the time nor the inclination to admit his bisexuality to the world—or to himself.
A visit from Krissy Porter will hopefully fix everything. After three months of chatting with her, Mikey's got one carefully planned week to win her heart and lose his V-card. He's hoping he can pull it off, even with her roommate along for the ride.
Krissy has been drawn to Mikey for a while. He's so easygoing, she thinks he could be the calm in her storm. But there's an extra complication when she comes to visit: her friend-with-benefits, "hetero-flexible" roommate, Rafe.
During a week of revelations, intimacy, and kink, Krissy and Rafe become the angel and devil on Mikey's shoulders, tempting him in different directions. And all three of them discover that a week of pure deviance can lead to the most uncontrollable emotion of all: love.
Warning: This book contains innocent board game-playing that takes a sexy turn, use of recreational substances, back-door action, and some smokin' hot threesomes. Plus, scenes of inner-demon slaying. Fans and tissues advised.

Mikey is a shy guy, a virgin at 25, and a guy who recently discovered some things about himself. Things that he hadn't really expected, and that put him at odds with his family. This change was that he had developed feelings for a guy, and found himself bisexual. All that's about to change, because Krissy is coming to visit, and Mikey feels she's the one and is determined to make her visit well worth it. Thinking things are going to be great, Mikey's happy and full of palns, That is until he discovers the roommate she's brought, isn't the older woman he thought it would be.
Krissy's kept a few secrets from Mikey, one of them being her roommate isn't a girl, and they are not strictly roommates. But she likes Mikey alot and does plan on telling him everything, she's just not sure when or how to let it all out.
Rafe is Krissy's best friend, her roommate and so much more than can be summed up in a word or two. But Rafe is also something altogether different as well. And there's something stirring between Rafe and Mikey as well.
The Theory of Deviance was an intriguing story, I wasn't sure at first what to expect from Mikey, Krissy or Rafe, but somehow the story flowed really well and pulled me in. The way each of these characters worked into the story really made you feel for them all, understand their private issues and how that worked with their interactions. I felt like there was a reasonable build up between these three as they began a relationship together.
There was some spotlight on other issues in each of their lives as well, and I felt like most of all it flowed with the story and fit, though there were a few aspects I would have liked to see handled differently or expanded upon (mental illness for example). The struggles Mikey faced with accepting himself for who he was felt very realistic and made me feel I could understand the depth of his struggle and why he felt so torn.
This was my first book by Rebecca Grace Allen, and reading it made me want to go back and read previous books in the series. She really has a way of writing that pulls you into the characters struggles, deep into their thoughts and feelings.
