Review
Runaway Girl was an unexpected read, unexpected in that I truly wasn't sure what direction the story would take based on the synopsis, but I enjoyed watching as each element slipped into play.
Jason and Naomi are both facing unknowns - though varying types - they have an instant connection of sorts even though neither really wants to admit it. There's an undeniable thread between them from moment one, but there's also great banter and a touch of determination to not give in to feelings and yet there's the inevitable moment they are going to fail at that.
I loved Naomi, she's a woman who's on a mission to find out who she is when she's got options, when she can choose what she wants in every aspect of her life. I love her interactions with Birdie and Jason and I truly enjoyed watching as she evolved from the runaway bride at the start of the book.
Jason is a great hero too, suffering with his own doubts and what he perceives as flaws all while intent on doing as good of a job as he can with Birdie and protecting all of those he can. He's learning new sides of himself the same as Naomi, only with a different stimulus.
Runaway Girl is a story involving emotions, traumas, and bonds that are not only unexpected but different from anything these characters have known in the past. I loved the differences in these two characters and how those differences really built on their connection and just showed how perfect they really fit.
Author Bio
Tessa
Bailey is originally from Carlsbad, California. The day after high school
graduation, she packed her yearbook, ripped jeans and laptop, driving
cross-country to New York City in under four days.
Her most
valuable life experiences were learned thereafter while waitressing at K-Dees,
a Manhattan pub owned by her uncle. Inside those four walls, she met her
husband, best friend and discovered the magic of classic rock, managing to put
herself through Kingsborough Community College and the English program at Pace
University at the same time. Several stunted attempts to enter the work force
as a journalist followed, but romance writing continued to demand her
attention.
She now
lives in Long Island, New York with her husband of ten years and
six-year-old daughter. Although she is severely sleep-deprived, she is
incredibly happy to be living her dream of writing about people falling in
love.
